The focus of this project was to create a coffee shop on Campus Corner at the University of Oklahoma. The coffee shop also needed to include a one bedroom apartment along with an outdoor social area that encompassed the atmosphere of Campus Corner. This design showcases an array of water features and public spaces that can be seen throughout campus. However, one thing that was missing from Campus Corner was an enjoyable place for children. With the intention of creating an environment that was family friendly, the children would have a playground to enjoy. Another addition to this design is the patio over the main water feature. This patio is intended for outdoor concerts and seating spaces.

During the spring semester of the 1st year of architecture school the idea of tectonics was introduced. With such a great emphasis on interlocking spaces, this project was created. The assignment was to develop a tectonic sculptural element which could have the potential to be an inhabitable space. Therefore, the creation of an orthogonal interlocking form was developed. The concept of the design is having a single member that could be rotated and scaled down to form a sculptural piece.

In architecture school one of the first things we learn is communication. As we begin our careers, not only do we focus on design, but the idea of verbally communicating our designs to others. Therefore, with this project, partners were chosen and the creativity between the partners began. The assignment consisted of designing and creating a cube that had two removable parts. One partner was in charge of creating a piece of the cube from hydrostone while the constructed their piece from wood. For this assignment, my job was to cast the hydrostone portion of the cube. After the construction process was complete, we were assigned to 3d print a part that would separate the two pieces from each other.

As we approached the end of the semester, our final project was to create an urban designed area on Campus Corner at the University of Oklahoma. With this project there were teams assigned with three members per group. Each of the members were given a different site. The challenge was to create a space that shared the same language at the rest of the sites. A major requirement for the site was to create an overhead structure to create a shading device. The site I was given was the site closest to the main road way and the university. Therefore, the goal was to create a space that would draw people in from different access points on the site. The concept was to design the overhead structure to catch the viewers eyes to guide them to and through the site.

As the 2nd year of architecture school began, our first assignment was to analyze a staircase that reflected our type of style. As the project began, the style of architecture I wanted to focus on dealt with clean lines and natural materials. After some research, I found the Clyfford Still Museum in Denver, Colorado. A majority of this building is a combination of concrete, wood and steel. I was previewed the stairs I was in awe of how the stairs seemed like they were floating between the floors. The stairs consist of a slight rounded bottom with clean lines that complimented the slenderness of each stair. Our task was to recreate our chosen stair in a digital software and develop its surroundings.

This project was created to influence the idea of designing in section. First, eight sections designs were taken created. The guidelines for these drawings were that there needed to be three levels that were shared in a single space. Each of the sections needs to incorporate a space that was bright, dark and a transitions space between the two areas. From these sections, a physical model was made to showcase how designing in sections can implement interesting spaces with a combination of light and circulation.

The spring semester final project was to design a science laboratory at the Great Salt Plains located in Jet, Oklahoma. The laboratory needed to consist of an educational space for the public as well as a living area for three part-time scientist. Since the site was covered in salt, the structure was constructed upon columns. With the site being located in such a unique environment, the idea behind a botany laboratory came to mind. In this design, the green spaces were created throughout the building. To give the visitors the full experience of this environment, circulation around the building was a main priority. To honor the green design aspect, the building incorporates solar panels on the roof that are powered by the Tesla battery packs.

This project focuses on analyzing photography. Annie Leibovitz is the photographer that was chosen to research. Leibovitz is a portrait photographer who focuses on creating portraits that compliment their backgrounds. The photo I chose to analyze was The Mad Tea Party from the Once Upon A Time Vogue collection. This photo captures a scene in nature from the movie Alice in Wonderland. The creation of the diagram came from the different compositions Leibovitz used in the photograph. From this diagram a model was constructed using some of the hierarchy found in the photo and diagrams.

This project is a boutique gallery hotel located in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Eureka Springs is a town known for its connections to the past. With the town covered in historical features, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s obvious why the residents are so proud of its historical past. With this design, its main concept is to bring Eureka Springs back to its roots. It was designed around the ghosting mural which is located on the southern part of the site. With this idea, the main circulation of the site passes next to the mural to inspire the connection from the past to the future. The intention was to create a building that uses passive heating and cooling techniques to contribute to the idea of a net-zero design.

This project was to create a tea house on Lake Thunderbird in Norman, Oklahoma. Our first step was to research the different types of tea making, then form ideas on how to incorporate these into processes into our site. The final product was to include areas for the different tea process, interactive learn spaces, and a centralized area for a tea cafĂŠ. An important requirement for this space was to incorporate passive ways to lower the energy used on the site.

Studying abroad in Rome was a life changing experience. It further devolved my knowledge of architectural history through design. Our main project of the semester was the create a museum next to the Colosseum. The main function of the museum is to house 109 Roman busts along with a model of Ancient Rome. It also needed to include an interactive learning space as-well-as a restaurant. My focus was to create a space that suited the needs of the tourist along with the surrounding locals of the area. Another important element was to create a space that complimented the historical surrounding without competing against them. This was achieved by envisioning a site that would attract tourist while blending into the natural environment.

Pedestrian Area for Roman Culture

The PARC is a modern hub for Roman culture and interaction. Ramps allow pedestrians on the Via Fori lmperiali to circulate easily from the sidewalks of the Via Fori lmperiali and Via Colosseo to the elevated outdoor terraces of the PARC. The center of the site is marked by a cantilevered building that houses a restaurant featuring panoramic views of the surrounding Roman archeological sites. A sunken courtyard located in the center of the PARC provides access to the Roman cultural center. This volume houses a number of historical artifacts, including a special collection of Roman Imperial busts and a display of the model of Ancient Rome. The Roman cultural center also has creating spaces designed as a spaces for local students to create and make. Adjacent to the cultural center is the Palazzo Rivaldi Boutique Hotel. The PARC intends to serve local Roman residents, tourists, students, historians, and archeologists.

Carten steel encased volumes are surrouned by green space. The corten steel creates an aesthetic that becomes richer with age and fits with a context of antiquity. Glass is used in areas where natural light is required.

Caira by Peter Zumthor Skylights create directed natural lighting to Roman ruins. Circulation is provided by steel catwalks with thin, simple railing. Stairs do not meet the ground, but hover close above it Structure is aligned by simple grids. Roman Ruins are on display in the void.
