CONGRATULATIONS…AND NOW, LET’S MOVE FORWARD To Mayor Jody Czajkoski, Council member, Todd Yancey and Council member Curt Maddux, congratulations. The voters of Conroe have spoken and you along with the other members of City Council have been provided a unique opportunity to make Conroe even better than it is right now. While the voters have spoken, we remind you that business is the backbone of the community as it relates to sales tax, property tax and jobs. Please remember the business community as you make decisions for the ENTIRE community. Part of the allure that people have for relocating to Conroe is it’s ‘hometown feel’ with ‘real people’! That culture comes from decades of growth and changes and families moving in and out and long time businesses continuing to hire and grow.

Enjoy your victories, but we stand ready to work with you and the business community to make our hometown the best it can be…it’s why we started #ConroeStrong…not just words, but a belief that we are stronger together. With the Christmas and New Year holidays right around the corner, let me take this moment to wish each and every one of you who is reading this message a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. There have been enough jokes about 2020, so I won’t go down that path…but here’s to hoping and praying that the new year brings health to our community, both physically and emotionally. REMEMBER TO SHOP LOCAL and help keep us #ConroeStrong! The Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce…striving to become the premier business organization in our area. Strong leadership, fiscal responsibility, and responsive programming…three great reasons to be a member.

WHAT'S H A PPEN IN G IN CH A M B ER L I F E

It was a month of getting back on the ribbon cutting train here at the Conroe Chamber! We were incredibly grateful to be able to welcome and celebrate some local businesses in Conroe and the Lake Conroe area as they celebrated their openings or anniversaries. We look forward to even more in the future!

Our friends at TransMed Center were able to open this month with trainers, doctors, pharmacists, hypnotists, massage therapists and more to proactively tend to your whole body, in sickness and in health! Check them out on South Loop 336 West!

Grand Central Storage on Gladstell and Family First Urgent Care got a cameo from our ribbon cutting folks as well...one just opening, and the second, celebrating their fourth aniversary! Congrats! (Top right.) Another great crowd showed up to build relationships and have a laugh at Conroe's Incredible Pizza New Leaf Spa and Laser is another business within TransMed Center that is Company for Morning Mingle in November! We'll have offering peels, laser hair removal, vein work, Botox, acne and stretch mark a SPECIAL GUEST in December! (Above.) treatments. (Above.) Thanks for letting us celebrate your opening! 4 G ET CON N E C T E D. S T AY C ONNE CTE D.

NEXT GENERATION

leadership

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INTERVIEW SKILLS by Mary McKenny The November session of Next Generation Leadership took place on November eleventh and taught students the skills needed in order to succeed in interviews and the workplace. Students were introduced to alumni of Leadership Montgomery County and learned about their occupations. These professionals took the skills they had learned in their professions and volunteered to hold mock interviews with the students in order to allow them the experience of what it is like to be in a real interview. These interviews were generated to seem like Chick-Fil-A was looking to hire employees and gave the students the chance to use the skills they had learned during the session and see how they would succeed in a real life interview. Topics such as body language, word choice, attire, and sharing of strengths were included in the session and gave students an idea of how to go about what is truly expected in a real interview. A list of general and popular interview questions was went over by the leaders of Next Generation Leadership and allowed the students to prepare for what was to come in their mock interviews. The Leadership Montgomery County alumni and other professionals gave feedback to the students on their mock interviews and how they carried themselves during the session. This allowed the students to learn about their strengths and weaknesses in their interviewing skills, giving them the chance to see what they are good at and what they can improve on. The session overall gave these students the opportunity to connect with local professionals and to practice their interview etiquette, something that is very important for them in the future.
