Civil Rights Trail Committee Request Funding for development of a mural series on W. 15th St. depicting local African American history • Individual murals will cost in the range of $10,000 to $15,000 each • The community will be involved in helping select topics for the murals through a series of meetings. The first such meeting was held Oct. 28 at the Carver Center. • Based on the first meeting, a depiction of W. 15th in its heyday would be the first mural. • The Trail Committee will appoint a subcommittee to schedule meetings; solicit buildings for murals; select artists, develop artist contract, etc. • The Committee will ensure that buildings have owners signed permission/contract; are inspected for condition issues affecting a mural and that building is properly prepared for the application of a mural.

Cinder block at least 50 yrs old Needs scraping of old paint, pressure washing, sanding and filling some areas. Requires two coats of primer with a mixture of gesso and acrylic (this undercoating determines longevity)
Paints: $700 • •
Nova color acrylic, which is high quality artists paints manufactured specifically for outdoor murals and commercial usage Clear coat acrylic finish coat by Nova will greatly enhances the longevity of the mural and provides protection from graffiti and UV sun rays
