A4 foldings
Topology The base for the design was an A4 sheet, that through succesive foldings produced the basic lines for the topological structure. These lines were offset towards the interior of the patterns, thus generating a system of openings for light. The material selected for the structure is steel, as it is meant to be a light structure and works in tension. The next step in the experimentation was to build a model following these ideas. The steel bars are fixed together with a ball system that interconnects them. The covering of the openings can be done in different ways and materials. The ones we think are most practical: steel plates with foldings to let the light in, or glass. The topology can also be used in different ways according to its scale. In a small scale it can cover a space by repetition of the pieces, and in a large scale it can be used as a canopy to cover a large span.
