The SHSCT are seeking to appoint a design team for the proposed reconfiguration works to Craigavon Area Hospital MRI unit to accommodate a new MRI scanner. The refurbishment is primarily aimed at implementing the physical modifications to provide an additional MR compliant RF cabin, control room, technical room and ancillary accommodation and installation of a second MRI scanner at Craigavon Area Hospital. In addition a temporary mobile MRI scanner is to be installed on site during the refurbishment works. Due to the specialist MRI requirements the design team must be capable of providing design services in relation to the provision of MRI compliant cabins, RF cabins, RF testing, control room, technical room, MR quenching, liaison with specialist suppliers, liaison with independent Clinical Scientist. The works will be carried out in a live, acute hospital environment. The MRI Department is one of the busiest departments in the hospital and the works must be designed and phased in such a way as to cause the minimum amount of disruption to the service. It is anticipated that complex mechanical and electrical services, including medical gases, will be required as part of the works and the team should have adequate experience of same. The works are to be completed and handed by 30th June 2015. The SHSCT confirm that the following consultants will be required to form part of the design team; Lead Consultant, Architect, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Civil & Structural Engineer and CDM coordinator. The works are likely to involve both online and offline carriageway construction, new structures, pavement overlay works, drainage, earthworks, accommodation works, fencing, utility diversions and other ancillary works. This survey will provide the background information to undertake a preliminary design and develop documentation for the statutory processes for each section of improvement works. In some cases the survey information may form part of a detailed topographical survey used for the detailed design process. The survey shall be undertaken by a mix of digital aerial photography ,remote surveying techniques, ground survey methods including GPS, laser scanning and conventional terrestrial instrumentation.
