Schools Summer Works Scheme 2011 Welcome to the CIS Newsletter

€41.2 Million allocated for School Improvements by Gerard Chadwick

In this edition of the CIS Newsletter we turn our attention to the Schools Summer Works Scheme 2011. This much needed announcement by Minister Quinn comes as boost to the industry and should prove to be a valuable source of revenue and employment particulary to those companies in the mechanical, electrical, lighting and heating sectors. With schools in every county designated for improvement the opportunity is very widespread and extensive. Further details on the 453 approved schools are available to CIS members through iCIS our online database of all construction work in Ireland.

“Funding of €41.2m under the summer works scheme will see major improvements in primary and post primary schools around the country” -Minister Quinn 453 primary and post primary schools across the country have been successful in their applications for funding under the Summer Works Scheme this year. These funds will allow the schools in question to carry out small and medium scale building works this summer under the Summer Works Scheme announced today by the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairi Quinn, TD. The new building will have a total floor area of C. 6059 m. sq. Starting May 2011 >>MORE SUMMER WORKS - St. John's Central College, Sawmill Street, Cork Electrical works incorporating lighting, wiring and all other electrical installations required. Contractors will be appointed by the promoter. Cost is dependant on the individual project. Consultants were appointed up to the point of funding being secured. School Roll No. = 71121M; Pupil Numbers (2009 - 2010) = 1252. Starting July 2011 >>MORE SUMMER WORKS - Scoil Phobail Chuil Mhin Cluain Saileach, Dublin Mechanical works, incorporating heating, pipework, radiotors and all other mechanical installations. Contractors will be appointed by the promoter. Cost is dependant on the individual project. Consultants were appointed up to the point of funding being secured. School Roll No. = 91315O; Pupil Numbers (2009 - 2010) = 1093. Starting July 2011 >>MORE SUMMER WORKS - St. Brendan's Community School, Birr, Co. Offaly Installation of a gas boiler system. Contractors will be appointed by the promoter. Cost is dependant on the individual project. Consultants were appointed up to the point of funding being secured. School Roll No. = 91491L; Pupil Numbers (2009 2010) = 843. Starting July 2011 >>MORE
