Sports Minister pledges support for Centre of Excellence by Conor McKeon - Evening Herald

ABBOTSTOWN is the most likely site of Dublin's first centre of excellence after Minister for Sports, Arts and Tourism, Leo Varadkar, gave his backing to the project and its development at the National Sports Campus site. Speaking at the launch of "The Blue Wave: A Strategy for Dublin GAA 20112017" in Croke Park last night, Minister Varadkar noted the lack of a GAA presence at the complex and said he was ready to enter into negotiations with the Dublin County Board with a view to leasing a site. Leinster Rugby to move to UCD campus by The University Observer Leinster Rugby CEO Michael Dawson and UCD President Hugh Brady have agreed that a training facility for Leinster Rugby will be built on UCD grounds. Renovations are currently underway at the old Philips building on campus, with a number of first-class administrative offices being constructed there for use by Leinster Rugby. Read more »


5 Free Projects SPORTS (ROI) - €1.9 Million Sports Building, Blackrock College, Dublin Started earlier this month this €1.9 Million building will take 9 months to complete and will include the construction of a sports hall, changing facilities, medical room, administration office, circuit training facility and a classroom >>MORE SPORTS (NI) - £6 Million Sports Leisure Facility, Co. Derry Scheduled to start in March 2012 this projects is currently out to tender. It will involve the replacement and relocation of a multi-purpose sports leisure facility and construction of a new 4600 SqM building and two foodlit synthetic 5 A Side piteches >>MORE SPORTS (ROI) - €20 Million Sports Facility, Athone IT, Co. Westmeath Started in October this €20 Million scheme is scheduled to be complete at end July 2012. C onstruction will include a 12300 SqM multi-sports facility, athletic track, spectator stands and seating. Main Contractor is JJ Rhatigan & Company Limite >>MORE SPORTS (ROI) - €1.9 Million Leisure Centre, Donohill, Co. Tipperary Construction work is expected to commence in Feb 2012 on a multi purpose leisure complex which will be developed in 2 phases i.e. multi purpose hall, gymnasium, meeting rooms, function area with associated areas, kitchen and external terrace >>MORE SPORTS (ROI) - €10 Million Centre of Excellence, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo Work is expected to commence in Jan 2012 on this development. It will include 5 all weather natural grass training pitches, 1 all weather synthetic pitch, club house with offices, canteen, physio room, changing rooms, gym, meeting rooms, analysis room, reception area and ancillary storage rooms >>MORE
