COLLIERVILLE
AS TOURISM DIRECTOR, I work with Town staff to shape the experience of our residents and visitors. For my part, this means thinking about what people see, feel, and do when they visit the Collierville Town Square and other points of interest in Collierville. An estimated 172,400 visitors traveled to Town Square in the last 12 months for entertainment, dining, and retail experiences from across the United States.* Making sure their visit is positive and memorable is a key component in promoting Collierville’s brand and building our reputation.
Collierville’s tourism program is built on destination management. This approach places the experience of residents and guests at the center of its mission — to enhance the quality of life for our residents and in turn, the quality of visit for our guests through projects that drive economic activity and support the recruitment and retention of business and families.
Many visitors to the Depot Visitors Center are visiting friends and family who live in Collierville and the greater Memphis area. The charming atmosphere, array of restaurants and shops, and historical attractions make Collierville Town Square the perfect destination for visiting guests. To ensure that Collierville continues to be a destination, new amenities and experiences are continually being developed.
Collierville is your home, and it’s ours, too. We share your commitment to those you care about and the community we’re all a part of. You make Collierville better every day, and you inspire us to make banking easier, so we all have more time to enjoy life as we take our next step together in this place we call home.
In 2022, the Town of Collierville received the Shelby County Board of Commissioners Community Enhancement Grant for $21,250 to further develop the Depot Visitors Center as a welcome center and engaging community resource. Funds allowed for improved historical interpretation of the historic Depot with museum quality exhibits and visitor services enhancements.
The iconic red telephone booth on Town Square, purchased in the mid-1990s, also received an update. Visitors can now step inside the famous phone booth on Town Square for a selfie or photo with friends. Make sure to use the hashtag #ColliervilleCalling, so we can see who’s on the line!
The Town of Collierville is currently in the design phase of a $2 million investment in Hinton Park (10524 E. Holmes Road), made possible by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, that will help make this location a vibrant destination for live music events and recreation. Projected to open in the summer of 2024, visitors will find a handicapaccessible playground and a permanent amphitheater, among other new features.
A Great Destination With Great Views
Collierville is a favorite location for Memphis-area photographers for everything from quinceañeras and weddings to graduation photos and holiday cards. For residents and guests, the murals on Town Square and historic attractions provide a unique opportunity to engage in the space and history of the community. In addition to building community, murals and unique backdrops serve an important role in driving tourism. It’s hard to deny social media’s profound effect on travel. Industry studies report that between 40 to 60 percent of travelers choose their destination based on what they see on Instagram. Travelers now look for the most Instagrammable picture to share on social media and remember their experience. Collierville boasts numerous locations to get the perfect shot to remember your trip.
