Trends & Outlook 2022 First, we expect that the continued growth in streaming video services, both for SVOD and AVOD, will complement the value of traditional free and pay TV in Asia. Second, we see the production of shorter series despite the easing of Covid-19 restrictions. Production costs remain high due to health protocols which must be maintained. Finally, we see more partnerships and co-productions happening among key players in the industry for the production of quality content for streaming platforms.”

Original Production

GMA launched several original production for 2022 including the romantic comedy The First Lady sequel to The First Nanny, Philippines’ highest rated drama for 2021; suspense miniseries Alternate, an installment to the top-rating anthology I Can See You; and crime dramas Widow’s Web, and Article 247. These dramas raise the viewers’ imagination and drive discussion on social media. In addition, we are in discussions with international companies to create content which targets online viewers.
