Murder in Fashion x3 WILLIAM MALTESE
It’s still relatively easy, these days, to access the three novels in my trifecta “Draqual Murder Mystery Series” that take place amidst the world of hautecouture fashion, especially if you’re a German reader soon to have available the trio released in German-language ebook format by Gerold Hens/translator and Lisa Kuppler/Editor x1 A SLIP TO DIE FOR (Prowler Books, London) 1999 Someone not only killed the writer, who’d been an “underground” movie star, model, hustler, and cross-dresser, but also murdered the borderline drunk, who’d been a TV-network executive and anchorman for the evening news. Each corpse was carefully laid out in Draqualian silk, a very special silk created by very special silkworms that ate very special mulberry leaves. Fashion-house head and silk-manufacturer Stud Draqual knew all about the silk, and knew the dead men as well. Three things were immediately clear: the killings weren’t accidental, they were connected directly to Stud, and he needed to be very careful, indeed, not to end up murdered himself! Autographed copies of the British-published first edition can still be had by collectors through the author for one-hundred dollars a pop. Readers who don’t have an inclination to collect, or don’t have deep pockets, can pick up comparatively inexpensive copies of Wildside Press’s second-print edition or the Kindle or Nook ebooks available through most any on-line bookstore (including amazon and b&n), or through brick-and-mortar store computers.
x2 THAI DIED (Green Candy Press) 2003 Stud Draqual is in Thailand to mix silk-buying business with pleasure. As he takes to the streets of downtown Bangkok, he finds himself followed by mercenary and ex-black-ops expert Jeff Billing who is implicated in the murder of a Thai prostitute, professes his innocence, and plans to use Stud as a pawn to ferret out the guilty party or parties. Scheduled for a second-print edition release, sometime soon, this one is presently available as a Nook or Kindle.
x3 SUCKS! BOOK #1 OF THE DRAQUAL VAMPYRE CHRONICES (Mlr Press) 2008 A thousand-year-old vampyre’s macabre fashion-line becomes much in demand as Vladymyr Draqual finds himself beloved and hated by the most powerful members of his own kind. Not for the prudish or faint at heart, book three of the series concerns itself not with Stud Draqual but with his centuries-old vampyre cousin, Vlad, who follows in Stud’s fashion footsteps but on a far darker side where models, faking death, ride meat hooks like zip-lines on abattoir runways. Available in print and in Kindle on amazon. A specifically commissioned hard-rock instrumental, composed and performed by Dj Jonez, can be heard on this book’s trailer on YouTube at: https://www. youtube.com/watch?v=jbmtA2Ew1BU

Haute Men’s Fashion WILLIAM MALTESE
In this age of social networking, it’s becoming less and less the major designers and what they send down their runways, or what models wear in those glossy-page print magazines, or what movie stars wear on the big screen, television actors on the small screen, or even what celebrities wear on their nights out on the town, that are the prime arbitrators of what’s in. As often as not, these days, people, young and old, are more and more making fashion choices based upon the Outfits of the Day (OOTD) of their peers. If Jimmy-Joe is popular, someone who knows Jimmy-Joe from school or work is more likely, here and now, to emulate what he wears than to pay all that much attention to the John Ford dinner jacket Daniel Craig sports in the latest James Bond movie. Getting just the right in style by literally following “suit” with one’s peers, is becoming even more popular than ever before. When I was on safari in Africa, I became quite taken by not only how great my guide looked in a bandolier but how great I looked wearing one as well. It isn’t, however, a look easily translated into polite society, outside the veldt, unless, of course, you’re in one of those US states that have made it legal to carry unconcealed weaponry in public. I commissioned two bullet-free leather-and-metal belts, by way of pseudo bandoliers, and so much liked the effect they achieved that I still wear this African-guide inspired OOTD when I’m out and about. Several years ago, in London, I prepared for a chilly night by deciding to wear a parka over my tuxedo to a ballet at the Covent Garden Ballet Theatre. While someone I was with commented how they would have more expected to see me in a cape, the truth is I would rather be pretty much anything but cold. Not long after, a sudden trend saw men and women wearing parkas as outerwear to social black-tie events. Based upon reaction to my OOTD? Whatever, we no longer tend to rely as heavily on past old-standard and de-rigueur sources as regards how we dress. What works for Jimmy-Joe in the executive offices, and might just as well work for us, seems to be exerting ever more and more influence over our individual daily fashion choices. Which, having seen some of the fashion that’s come down the runway, and how some Hollywood stars dress, is not necessarily a bad thing.

Relationship Failure Divorce - Why should the kids suffer too?
As an Emotional Healing Therapist, I deal with a wide variety of emotional challenges with clients. One thing I personally lived was being caught between two very hateful parents during the separation / divorce process, and then watching the hatred stay at a ridiculous high level literally for the rest of their lives. The damage from that for all 5 boys caught in this nightmare was varying. I was the oldest and I took the major whack of it becoming the battered mother, so to speak from age 10 onwards. It was a hellish childhood. Now that I had many years of emotional healing help from my mentor, I have successfully released 95% of the core negative programming both parents gave me, but in particular my father’s anger and judgments, which were extreme. Now that I understand the immense value of negative core belief healing, and I am living the benefits of it as a gifted healer, I can now genuinely and authentically help other people who have been subject to the following damage: 1) Inner Child - Loss of Trust, Faith, and Worthiness to Receive Love: That those in charge are mature enough to make sure the children are loved deeply throughout the separation / divorce process. Unworthiness to receive love is THE MAJOR program that creates repetitive life traumas when the children grow up and they experience divorce and trauma all over again. This is known as Lineage, a form of DNA downloading that unfortunately means that mom and dad’s stuff will be passed on. 2) Violence Is An Acceptable Way To Behave: Yes, that is a learned behaviour. Not everyone will repeat the violence but the imprint is there. Yelling, screaming, name calling, pettiness and your kids are witness to it and it becomes a damaging program. Of course any violence whether it is emotional or physical abuse is completely unacceptable, period! There are NO excuses! There are only opportunities to live a life of love! So what options are available to parents to shift and change their behaviour? How can mom and dad become two parents living apart in separate homes but the kids now have two loving parents who are happy in their new surroundings? It is possible to release the uncomfortable feelings, (Anger, Shame, Rejection, Abandonment, Betrayal, Etc), are handled on their own through healing processes away from the influences of the children. Peace can be the energy of choice in both homes. When kids visit dad or mom, whichever the case is, their experience is one of love and support. If you are curious on what my healing process is and why I can 99% guarantee that two parents will choose love over hate, here is a brief description of emotional healing therapy:
Relationship Failure: One Mans Story I have decided to share some examples of the work I do. The names will be changed to protect their identity. Kuldeep is originally from India. His parents moved to England, then to Canada. Kuldeep came to me because he had reached the end of his ability to cope with the emotional distress of having his wife admit she was having an affair. Kuldeep felt awful, could not think, felt like his chest was going to explode. He signed up for a few sessions to release the programming of an abandoned inner child whose neediness to cling onto the woman he loved was creating a giant and decisive push back from his wife who does not love him anymore. Kuldeep was trying everything to keep his wife under his roof creating even more tension. He was bankrupt of ideas on how to win his wife back. After just one session we were able to help him release a massive amount of fear, shame and guilt. He was so pleased that he could breathe again and think straight. He was able to vent his pain to the man whom his wife now loves without anger. Did I mention the first session is free? Kuldeep is now ready to heal his Inner Child pain and move on with his life as he has asked his wife to move out of the home so he can fully grieve the loss and begin his new life as a happy man who loves his 2 children. Kuldeep now knows that what he thought was love for his wife was not love at all, but control / neediness to replace his mother’s total lack of loving support as a child in India. His future is filled with loving potential.
Emotional Pain Healing How does Emotional Healing Therapy work? I help clients identify core beliefs that have a myriad of fear based attributes. These attributes, also known as beliefs, are experienced in the physical and mental body through thoughts, feelings and emotions. They are expressed in our words and actions. When a client is gently and lovingly guided to a place of safety the potential exists for significant emotional release of physical and mental pain. Fear based programming is the root cause of ongoing painful conditions. I am a strong proponent of multiple natural interventions such as naturopathic medicine, massage, nutritional counselling, acupuncture, chiropractic and homeopathic providing a balanced holistic approach. My gift is the emotional release and cellular recovery. Recent scientific research found that emotions attached to core beliefs are clinically proven to be the cause of cellular degeneration / pain. This is where I focus my attention in the recovery process. Biophysics and Epigenetics research has shown conclusively that the cellular body has an immediate response to waves of emotional energy. These energy waves include love or fear based programming which will determine the state of your wellbeing. I provide a 5 session package that has been so successful that my clients will inevitably experience positive recovery results. I facilitate recovery with compassionate support to observe the unhealthy programming / beliefs without self-judgment. Providing a safe space for my clients to remain present with these old feelings and beliefs is the key. Clients usually experience a release of emotions followed by the release of pain or stress. The unhealthy attachment to the fear based belief has been released. The recovery program completes with an empowerment process to stabilize and encourage a long term pain free life. You can return to your new life with a renewed purpose and inspiration with self-love as your guiding tool. Cover Model Katia Mukhafizova My name is Katia, I was born in Russia but I did grow up in Portugal!! been doing the modeling already for 12 years! 15! Yeah, my first cover was at 15 in Portugal! I am so grateful for many things. Because I was so young when I started I traveled with my parents and so I always had someone to talk to but I am you know, at heart, a loner.. I’m so appreciative of this industry. I’ve met some amazing artists and worked with so many amazing people. But, you know I think you definitely have to have a good support system around you. You’ve got to have good friends and family… if you have that, you’re set. You’re good. At the moment I do my modelling jobs in London, this is now my part time, because my full time is to be a mother of beautiful 4 year old daughter!! Always did my modeling even when I was pregnant, this is my passion and I think every girl want to be a model like we see the princesses in the cover of magazines!!!heeh When I move to London, I think there is no more modelling for me, but, with my persistence and dedication I come back to front of cameras and catwalks, in 2 years I did few covers magazines, loads catwalks, and photo shoots for different designers, video clipes, short movies and etc...

Model of the Month Candice Mitchell My journey into the fascinating world that is modelling, started at a later stage in my life although this only made me persevere more and work harder to achieve the goals and dreams I had had for as long as I can remember. Overcoming obstacles and hurdles in a profession that many dare not enter, worried about how they are portrayed by others, I set off on this incredible journey.
My world changed drastically but positively when I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy at a relatively young age. My life was not my own anymore and this has shaped me into the strong woman I am today.
I believe that everybody is given a chance in life to shine and for me, this came in 2010. I began my journey as a freelance model doing fashion shows, various photoshoots, music videos and so much more. Having got much experience and necessary exposure I became a Fashion PR and was fortunate enough to work alongside Gordon Flynn PR, who is also an international model, helping upcoming models, make up artists, designers, photographers and the like.
Whilst having experienced the whirlwind world of fame I remain a focused, grounded and humble individual. Stepping outside of what most would consider cultural boundaries, I became and remain the first Zimbabwean professional bodypaint model having been painted by some of the worlds most renowned bodypaint artists and can be seen partaking in prestigious events such as the world bodypainting festival, held in Austria every year.
Having come from humble beginnings in my native country of Zimbabwe many years ago, I have been fortunate and privileged to experience this wonderful world of fashion. If you stand for a reason, be prepared to stand alone like a tree and if you fall on the ground, fall like a seed that grows back to fight again. This is my journey thus far but there are still many a blank page to fill.

Ashes to Ashes? Not Necessarily! WILLIAM MALTESE
Thirty-six years ago, almost to the day, something happened within the lower continental United States that hadn’t happened in a very long time. A volcano, Mt. St. Helens, in Washington State, erupted, and its whole north face collapsed in an onrush of released hot gasses and ash that killed fifty-seven people and sent a plume of billowing particulates eighty-thousand feet into the atmosphere with eventual fallout that included eleven states. Those who were subjected to that catastrophic event, especially those plunged into mid-day gloom that lowered visibility in some places to ten feet, aren’t likely to forget it. Five-hundred-forty million tons of pileup ash saw people wearing surgical masks, carrying umbrellas, and cowling their heads twenty-four/seven, for weeks, to keep potentially health-damaging grittiness out of their eyes, ears, noses, mouths, throats, and respiratory systems. In the explosion’s aftermath, people eagerly gathered up, by way of mementoes, small amounts of the fine powder that weighted down their roofs and continued to make airborne dusty puffs, when disturbed, for months on end. Until the day she died, my mother had a Mason jar of the gray talcum-like stuff on the steamer trunk at her bedside. Suddenly, though, there’s a far better way to remember the event other than by bringing out those containers of dusty old ash. It’s what’s been done to that ash which provides the marvelous alternative: Helenite, a form of obsidian produced by heat fusion under high temperatures. The process was discovered by employees of Weyerhaeuser Timber Company during salvage operations of company equipment after the eruption. Their acetylene torches melted nearby ash and transformed it into a greenish-blue compound which has now commercially been replicated as Helenite. Stone-cutting, polishing, and custom-jewelry experts Elizabeth and Dave Fletcher, owner’s of Irv’s Jewelry Rocks and Gifts in Spokane, Washington, USA, a town that got more than its share of ash-dump, find it difficult to keep up with the existing Helenite demand. Elizabeth’s cutting and polishing skills (she’s the only jeweler I let touch my Colombian emerald after its decade stay in a safe-deposit box), and Dave’s ability to see some truly beautiful custom-made jewelry realized, has them with a waiting list of customers who want to see eruption mementoes more beautiful and functional than just Mason jars of dusty grey ash sitting on steamer trunks at bedsides.

Interview with Stylist Sequoia Sierra By Wanda Julian
What are some of the hottest trends this fall? Fringe is a huge trend this fall! Fringe on clothes, shoes, and bags. It's very boho chic, but is versatile enough trend to fit into different styles. Olive green is another big trend this fall, but fashionistas just need to make sure that they were a true olive green so as not to wear a green that picks up any wrong tones that can make them look sickly if it's not the right shade. What are some must haves for our wardrobe this fall? My must haves for my California fall weather is scarves, and accessories. It doesn't get to much colder here, so usually by adding a scarf and some cute boots or fun trendy fall accessories, I'm set for a California Fall fashion look. Who are some of your favorite designers? My favorite designers are Dolce & Gabbana, Alice Temperly, Balmain, Ciriana, and many others! What colors are in for fall? Olive Green, Marsala red, burnt oranges, and various prints that incorporate these colors, as well as leopard prints. What eras are you most inspired by for fashion? the 1940s were amongst the most glamorous of times in fashion, so that era definitely serves as an inspiration. What are some of your goals you would like to achieve? Well, I'm working on quite a few of them right now, one that is coming to fruition is having my own little fashion segment on tv. It's currently in the works for a Spanish television network, but it will be available online in English too! What can we expect to see in the future from you? You can expect to see a lot more of me, and you can take that to the bank, haha! I will be doing more fashion videos, blog posts and promotions, so prepare for a continued inundation on social media platforms and the like.

What’s Haute?
By Cheryl M. Smith
Stripes are what’s haute for SS 2016; thick bold ones, skinny ones, vertical ones, horizontal ones, diagonal ones, we see them running with a bias, and against the bias. Stripes have made a major comeback even gracing gowns by Missoni, Roksanda and Prada, who experimented with chopped, curled and scattered lines. But do we love them or do we hate them? Designers changing it up, have paired them with other graphic prints of vibrant colors making me fall in love with this revamped trend. And stripes on a full skirted, side slit ruffled maxi, well we just think it is oh so feminine. Nothing unflattering about this look, it’s one we would love to rock. The past few seasons we have seen the Chevron stripe leading the way, but it has gone by the wayside. Instead emerging is this fun, bold, bright new trend. We, as in I, prefer the bold graphics of these wide, vertical, diagonal stripes, and we think you just might too if you give them a chance. I have included some photos from sources I gleaned of some of the more unusual and attractive styles. The first two sets of photos are from: www.fashioners.com, the third set I found on Pinterest and the fourth set is from GIG Couture SS2015-2016. Okay fashion forward readers, what do you find you love, or hate about this newly revamped fashion trend??? https://www.facebook.com/positivepresentations/ https://www.pinterest.com/akn4life/ www.positivepres.com
