It Only Takes Eight ... Have you ever wondered what’s in a number?

Tip it over, and eight becomes infinity …

Take eight for example …

So don’t wake up, it’s not a dream …our Convertible Caravans leave with only Eight!

Eight seconds to fall in love at first sight …

Maybe you prefer a different angle? Since we need only EIGHT, depart when you want, go where you want and do what you want ...the possibilities are infinite. Yes Eight, a versatile little number, so are we!

Eight minutes for light to travel from the sun to the Earth … Dreaming of the number eight, which - they say - represents that something is complete …

Something a Little Different ... In the spirit of Convertible Caravans, we have decided it’s time to drive ahead with travel moments where the ordinary is even more than Extraordinary!

perfect “Green”. It’s Tee Time …and we’ve all “Gone Golfing”. (Page 34 & 35).

It’s time to sniff, sip, taste - and occasionally cook - our way along some of the most famous wine routes of the world. We savor and relish more than a mouthful of Italy, France or Greece as we journey along a “Tastes of Times”. (Page 36).

Gentlemen love their toys, and Germany/Austria is home to all that is Fast, Fun & "Fenomenal”!

It’s time to go “Vroom”!

We drive on world famous tracks and “Vroom” past the boundaries of our imagination! We explore our limits in the canyons of the Austrian Alps and we soar past their clouds as we glide over mountain meadows. (Page 36).

It’s time to play …and definitely for more than a day! Discovering the pallet of Ireland’s 300 greens, we throw our clubs in the back of our cars and follow our pro in search of the

Driving and Renting a Car in Europe ...

It is not possible to confirm the exact brand of the car previous to the rental.

The obligatory CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) and THW (Theft Waiver) are included in your rental. Deductibles apply and we are happy to advise you the details upon the confirmation of your reservation, as well as details about the so-called “zerodeductibles”. We can also, at any time, give you information about PAI (Personal Accident Insurance).

For two people traveling together in one car, we offer an automatic transmission sedan vehicle and include one driver.

An International Driving Permit (IDP) is required, but does not replace your valid U.S. driver’s license. Both must be presented when you sign and pick up your car.

In countries where you pick up your car in one destination, and return it in another, we have included the One-Way Fee.

For four people traveling together in one car, we offer a crossover type vehicle and include two drivers. In Europe these types can both be manual or automatic transmission.

All our rentals include free miles/ kilometers. The car is delivered with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank.

The IDP can be purchased through the National Automobile Club (NAC) offices and the cost is approximately $15.00.

Convertible cars are on request. They can be manual or automatic transmission, according to the destination.

Concerned about renting a car and driving in Europe? You shouldn’t be! Convertible Caravans takes care of all the necessary arrangements and everything that you need, when renting your car in Europe. We’ve made it ALL hassle-free! A few things are good to know in advance: The minimum age of the driver must be 25, and he/she must hold a driver’s license that has been valid for a minimum of 1 year.

The Convertible Caravans of Europe cannot be held responsible if a car rental is denied on the spot due to lack of holding an IDP and a valid U.S. driver’s license. A credit card is required as a guarantee when receiving the car.

Your Caravan Concierge will assist you on the spot with all the formalities of the rental.

Chauffeured Experiences ... Not up to the adventures of driving?

Chauffeur, Driver, Person behind the Wheel; who are these valuable souls?

Elect for your set of keys to come with a personal driver, and travel with a bit of flair and a touch of grace while you relax in style on your journey with us.

Not your servant, nor your butler! All our chauffeurs are cap less, but still willing to open doors … so sit back and enjoy the view down Memory Lane, and leave the driving to us!

A chauffeur experience is not a luxury of the past and there’s no need to be a millionaire. You will be pleasantly surprised how reasonable it is to ride stressfree and be chauffeured along the way.

C'est la Vie...

T

here is much more to France than Paris …

Our France is the turquoise, azure waters of the Mediterranean, a paint box of pastel colors and fragrant aromas of Provence, fairytale cliff-top villages and fortress cities set at the cross roads of history, famous wine roads and majestic chateaux, and yes …glittering lights and animated sidewalk cafes of its most famous city - Paris. Our route guides us along the meandering roads of the French Riviera and the Cote d’Azur to the Principality of Monaco with it's Haute Couture lifestyle … We explore hilltop villages with an amazing light that has inspired artist for centuries … We stroll the medieval citadel of Gordes and discover the lure of Aix-en-Provence … We wander the walled city Avignon and marvel at the ingenuity of engineering over 2000 years old … We taste the olive oils and cheeses of the region, and sip our way along some of the most famous wine routes of the world … And finally we collect our last impressions in the inimitable capital of art, fashion, food, wine and culture - Paris. C’est la Vie …in our France!

Italy Simply

E

xplosions of flavors, scents and aromas …Italy has always been a synonym for good food and everything that is “better”.

Our Italy is a parade of passions; a love affair with century old traditions, art, music and literature, still adored today. Italians keep it simple, but still with a touch of elegance and trendsetting originality; anything stating “Made in Italy” claims quite simply: “THE best”! A flamboyant nation that can’t speak without their hands and a language that dances on your tongue and in your ears; contrasting to idyllic landscapes seasoned with monumental castles, churches and hilltop fortresses, a gentle symphony of flavors, scents and aromas. Italy is for lovers of everything that simply whisper “Buono Gusto”. Our route guides us along the verdant rural countryside to the romantic shores of Lake Como, adorned with luxurious villas and the beautiful “Pearl of the Lake”; Bellagio. We explore the hilltop villages of Cinque Terre clinging to the rugged coastline of the Italian Riviera; we meander through golden fields of wheat and green olive groves, tasting the oils and local cheeses, as we sip our way along some of the most famous wine routes of the world; we travel by way of landscapes largely unchanged since medieval times, decorated with country churches, beautiful abbeys, medieval villages and hilltop castles; we explore Florence, the jewel of the Renaissance, on the banks of the River Arno, a splendid treasure chest of artist masterpieces, colored marbles and architectural wonders; we collect our last impressions in the capital of the once great Roman Empire and Christianity; Rome. Modern and old, past and present …forever the “Eternal City”. 10

Sicily &Italy Our Cosa Nostra

O

ur Sicily is a land of myths and history, the crown jewel of the Mediterranean and a monumental center of the ancient world. Grasping the monopoly on culture, beauty and trade from a time long gone, Sicily was a meeting of point by land and sea, and a centre of Magna Graecia. From gardens by the blue, blue sea to archaic stone hilltop villages, from the greatest Greek temples and theatres, to the finest Roman mosaics, matchless Arabic-Byzantine cathedrals to World Heritage baroque palaces, Sicily is a gourmet delight, on and off the plate. As Goethe said "To have seen Italy without having seen Sicily, is to not have seen Italy at all, for Sicily is the clue to everything!"

Our route in Sicily and Italy starts in the ashes of Mt. Vesuvius and sails us via Naples into the heart of antiquity to Sicily. An island colonized by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Muslims, Normand’s, Spanish and finally the Italians; we discover Palermo and its Normand masterpieces of architecture; we explore Greek temples and 32 Doric columns; we meander in the clouds of medieval castles; we taste the oils and local cheeses of the island, as we sip our way along some of the most famous wine routes of the world; we meander with the gods in Agrigento; we are dazzled by the flamboyance of the Baroque Valley; we discover the splendor of the ancient ruins from Greek to Roman in Syracuse; we luxuriate in the paradise of Taormina and frolic with the Gods of Fire over a picnic on Mount Etna. Lastly we collect our final impressions in the capital of the “boot” with it’s own unique accent; Naples. Our Cosa Nosta …as Sicilian and Italian as it can be! 14

Brought to an abrupt halt 2200 years ago, when Mt. Vesuvius erupted, daily life just stopped in the middle of everyday activities. Following the ancient roads of the city, we’ll explore the well preserved ruins of homes, stores, temples and public spaces, visually narrating what Roman life was like in this 1st-century city. They say the best pizza in Italy is in Naples! So, we sit down with Giovanni and taste the honest truth. Boarding our overnight ferry, we make our way to our first class cabins and look out at the twinkling lights of Naples as we set sail for Palermo, Sicily. Overnight: Aboard in First Class Cabins. Here we explore what IS a Greek Temple and what IS Doric Style, and why “location” was, and still is, everything. G

ermany is more than beer and “wurst”, and Austria is more than Mozart and Julie Andrews …

Our Germany & Austria is as extraordinary combination of natural beauty, historical treasures and flourishing modern cities; a scenic river cruise and a nostalgic horse drawn carriage; a fairytale castle and a botanical island of flowers; terraced vineyards climbing from the river’s edge; picturesque villages in the very heart of the Alps; a myriad of sensations, flavors and sounds; vibrant cities to enchanting forest. Cuckoo… every moment has a story! Our route guides us south from Frankfurt, to the castle town of Heidelberg; we sail past sprawling vineyards and medieval castles on the prettiest bends of the Rhine; we visit, the castle of Neuschwanstein …inspiration for Disney; we taste the breads, signature sausages, cheeses and chocolates of the region, and sip our way along some of the most famous wine routes of the world; we make our way to the golden rooftop of the Alps – Innsbruck, and over a historic route of battles, crusades and imperial expeditions - the Brenner Pass; we are enamored by the beautiful domes and spires of Salzburg rising in the shadow of the Hohensalzburg Castle, echoing the music of Mozart; we hum to the melody of placid lakes and mountain valleys as we sway along the paths of the Sound of Music; we collect our last impressions in the capital of Bavaria, München (“Home of the Monks”) and imperial monarchs. An amazing city that is as sophisticated as it is traditional! Musical moments with sounds of flavor! 22

Frankfurt / Heidelberg

“Guten tag!” Gathering at Frankfurt Airport by 10:00am, we meet our Caravan Concierge and pick up our cars. Choose the fast-paced German autobahn or the quiet yellow roads (Bergstrasse) through typical villages, south to the banks of the river Neckar, and one of Germany’s most beautiful and romantic cities; Heidelberg. As the day is still quite young, we explore by foot Germany’s oldest university town; a town of medieval charm and Gothic Renaissance buildings, small lanes with half timber houses, historic squares, enchanting small gardens and a beautiful red walled fairytale castle dominating the skyline of the city. Don’t miss the castle cellars with the GREAT VAT, a 58,000-gallon 18th-century wine cask. Time to taste the local wines and flavors of Germany at our welcome dinner in the castle. Overnight: Heidelberg / Der Europäische Hof or similar. (D & 52 Miles)

Rhine River Cruise

Today we experience the beauty of the picturesque countryside and the splendor of medieval times, as our riverboat takes us along the legendary Rhine. Cruising its placid waters, each bend in the river promises a Kodak moment. Steep vineyards ascend from

We disembark for a traditional lunch at the foot of the Niederwald in Rüdesheim, a beautiful winemaking village and also part of the UNESCO World Heritage site. The evening is yours to sit back and unwind: Relax in Markenplatz with its sidewalk cafés, gaze upon the castle as the last rays of the sun turn it red, or stare into the reflections of the cities lights as they shimmer in the river Neckar. In a very baroque setting, on the vineyardterraced shores of Lake Constance, we enjoy our picnic lunch of fresh bread,

Having all grown up with Walt Disney and the Magic Kingdom, we are quick to recognize Cinderella’s and Sleeping Beauty’s castle, now in real life. Reflected in the lake below; snow capped mountains, royal castles, and a luncheon table of Tyrolean specialties. On the banks of the River Inn, with colorful green domes and red roofs is the capital of the Alps, Innsbruck. Enjoy the

Nestled below the towering mountains, we come to a place of migrations, battles and crusades over 2000 years of history; the historic Brenner Pass. us along the tunes of the Trapp family and the 1965 Oscar Award winning musical “The Sound of Music”. From garden to castle we hum along. Leaving the city behind, the hills come alive in this beautiful region of placid lakes and ragged peaks. Lunch is a special score to complete a music day of memories. This evening is free; snack at one of the sausage stands or stroll through the romantic Old City, better yet …try a Salzburg original: Mozartkugel. After returning our cars to the Munich airport, we shuttle into Munich, the capital of Bavaria, for dinner and a night on the town with Carl-Heinz at an authentic German beer garden. Overnight: Munich / Hotel Munchen Palace or similar. (B|D & 146 Miles)

Munich

Munich is a beautiful city of high tech modernity and proud old traditions, and this morning we set out to discover all the interesting tidbits. Walking the colorful old town (Altstadt), we retrace the paths of 850 years of history. From Marienplatz (Mary’s Square) and the famous Glockenspiel, we stroll through the medieval heart of the city admiring the simple beauty of the Frauenkirche, whose twin towers dominate the city’s skyline. A city of royal scandals and a turbulent 20th century with the early days of the Nazi Party, the story we all love most, is that of the most famous beverage worldwide: Beer! Our route guides us along the ramparts of history starting in the city of three cultures; Toledo, before reliving the escapades of Don Quixote and the medieval castles of Castile de al Mancha. We taste the olive oils and cheeses of the region, and sip our way along some of the most famous wine routes of the world. We marvel at the splendors of the 1000-yearold cities of Cordoba, Granada and Seville and their rich Moorish heritage. We stroll the remnants of Valencia’s farthest past to the most innovative and avant-garde buildings from the new millennium; relishing a true Paella Valenciana. We collect our last impressions in the capital of Catalonia, a paradise of Gaudi’s modernism, fashion, food, wine and culture; Barcelona. Everyday’s a fiesta in Spain. 26

Ireland

Celtic Charm & Legends of Fiery

I

reland is symbolic of shamrocks, leprechauns and legends, all in a Gaelic language of their own …

Our Ireland has fired the imagination for centuries with its legendary visual drama! Whitewashed lighthouses perched on a raging Atlantic, gnawing at thunderous cliffs; paint box colorful villages and palettes of every possible green imaginable; prehistoric stone age ruins to medieval monastic marvels; fairytale castles and stately country homes; quaint tea rooms to cozy pubs; and Celtic harps complimenting a dose of serenity. Ahhh …the luck of the Irish! Our route guides us past the savage beauty of Connemara with its dramatic contrasts of sea, sky, boglands and mountains, to the iconic reflection in its lake of Kylemore Abbey; we are spellbound by the Cliffs of Moher and wonder if 2000 years ago it really was, as in an ancient Gaelic, “the cliffs of a ruined fort”; we circle the Ring of Kerry with its wild landscape, charming villages and Victorian mansions; we spread out our rug for an “al fresco” feast of local splendors; we delve into a world of magic, mystery and legends in the castles of yesteryears; we admire how a molten blob transforms into twinkling masterpieces; we collect our last impressions in the city of literature and passion. Just a pint of a capital, but with the islands finest Georgian architecture, old school bars and funky boutiques; Dublin is by far, Ireland's friendliest heart! Look closely, take part in our “céili” (traditional Gaelic gathering with music and dance) and most of all be …charmed!
