Denver Once home to the allied tribes of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Native Americans Colorado’s Front Range remained unexplored and rarely traveled by pioneers until 1858 when two gentleman, Green Russell and Sam Bates, discovered a deposit of gold in present day Englewood. The word of gold spread and thousands of individuals assembled in the area fueling the establishment of three settlements along the confluence of Cherry Creek and the South Platte River: St. Charles (Larimer Square), Auraria (Auraria Campus), and Highland (LoHi).

Colorado Upon the arrival of General William Larimer in November 1858 the settlement of St. Charles acquiesced their rights to the land and the area was renamed Denver City in appreciation for Kansas Territorial Governor James W. Denver. Although gold was the impetus for Denver’s initial growth, it was the Silver Boom that solidified Denver as a national destination. Between 1870 and 1880 more than 100 individuals arrived each day in Denver boosting the population from 4,500 to 35,000. By 1890, Denver became the 26th largest city in the nation and the fifth largest city west of the Mississippi River.

Destined for the wrecking ball in the 1960s, Denver icon Dana Crawford found new purpose for the street lined with historic buildings. Today, there are more than 100 businesses operating within the district; half of which are restaurants, nightlife, and boutique shops.

Riverfront A charming park lining the banks of the South Platte River is flanked by brownstones, row homes and an assortment of condominiums and lofts that radiate a distinct charm. A true urban neighborhood, Riverfront offers a suburban retreat underneath the towering skyline.

The Four Seasons Hotel

The Four Seasons opened its first hotel in 1961. Isadore Sharp’s steadfast commitment to customer service earned him respect and his hotel’s reputation expanded. Over the past half-century the Four Seasons have expanded their presence and now operate nearly 100 hotels around the world.

Held to the highest standard of customer service, the staff is meticulous in every movement. The hotel is comprised of 239 guest suites while the ultra-exclusive enclave of 101 private residences occupy the top 28 floors of the building.

The addition of the Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences to the Denver skyline is emblematic of Denver’s maturation over the course of the past decade. The Teatro Tower, soaring 641 feet above the Mile High City has become an iconic landmark in a cityscape where “world-class” is customary.

The Developers Most noted for their development of the Hotel Teatro, a top-down restoration of the former Denver Tramway Building originally built in 1911, the developers Jeffrey Selby and Michael Brenneman had grandiose plans for the future. The two had a vision to create an extension of their boutique hotel in the vacant lot across the street. As plans developed they altered their creation and instead, partnered with the Four Seasons. Interestingly enough, the legal description was never revised and to this day remains the Teatro Tower.

The Architect Founded in 1992, Carney Logan Burke Architects is an award-winning firm headquartered in Jackson, Wyoming, an internationally acclaimed resort town. The multi-faceted operation specializes in design throughout the western United States. Examples of their work include both residential and commercial applications.

Four Seasons Private Residences Suite 4050 Soaring 40 stories above the Mile High city is the private residence of Mr. Curtis Fentress, the internationally acclaimed architect and creative virtuoso behind some of Denver’s most iconic landmarks including the Convention Center, Sports Authority Field and Denver International Airport. To assume that his personal residence would stray from his consummate dedication to perfection would be remiss. The fully-custom, half-floor unit was purchased as an empty shell from the developer in September 2012. Over the subsequent 12 months Curtis and his wife, Agatha Kessler, ventured to create a residence that was focused equally on architectural design and self-expression.

Upon entrance into the flat, a series of LED lights illuminate the hallway to the main living space like a vacant runway invites guests to its terminal. At the push of a button, the fully-integrated Lutron system transforms the living space into a gallery reminiscent of the world’s finest museums and public spaces. Located on the northeast corner of the home, a beautiful baby grand piano introduces classic design elements while elegant Dorian Bahr mink drapery frames Denver’s ever-evolving skyline.

The kitchen is a visual expression of today’s design sentiments. Custom Varenna cabinetry serves as the foundation for the kitchen island where brilliant Caesarstone countertops create a central hub for social gatherings.

Two French doors reveal a distinctive bar area characterized by flamboyantly painted cabinetry adding a splash of color to an otherwise austere palette. Unbeknownst to guests, a service, utility and prep area is discretely concealed behind swinging doors ensuring the kitchen maintains a clean, contemporary presentation. A stainless steel Thermador appliance package adds further depth and texture to the kitchen’s overall allure.

Marble flooring set in a herringbone pattern establishes cohesion between the flat’s main living areas. A painted glass fireplace throws a touch of color and warmth while a lamp in the form of a black stallion and a pig offering butler services add a playful motif to the original design.

The family room and dining area are enveloped by windows overlooking Denver’s historic Daniels and Fisher Tower and Coors Field while the foothills encapsulating the Denver metro area are omnipresent throughout.

The master suite sits perched on the northwest corner of the flat where two walls of windows capture a scenic backdrop. Wraparound shades lightly veil the majestic scenery in a flirtatious manner that begs to be explored. Extensive built-in cabinetry manufactured by Poliform maintains a contemporary aesthetic while accommodating a wardrobe befit for the owner’s collection. Concealed behind sliding doors inlaid with onyx is a master suite outfitted with floor-to-ceiling marble. As is true with every bathroom in the home, Robern vanities, Dornbracht fixtures and custom mirrors solidify the home’s presentation.

The two lavishly appointed guest suites are accompanied by spa-inspired en-suite bathrooms. The east suite has dressing quarters and built-in closets reminiscent of a boutique clothier in Manhattan.

Every room exudes a personality born from a passion for artistry. Incorporating timeless materials, international furnishings, contemporary lines, and a thoughtfully designed floorplan the flat radiates an energy that is categorically unique. Opportunity awaits to author your own narrative in one of Denver’s most spectacular residences designed and owned by an architect whose reputation is one of reverence.
