DAVEY LA MUSICIAN MOTIVACIÓN, ALIENTO E INSPIRACIÓN • What does being an entrepreneur in the music industry mean to you? It means taking risks. Doing things differently based on one's core values and beliefs. It means not being afraid to be judged, or to fail. The music industry has always lacked imagination and conviction based on personal experience. The internet has changed all of that. • What was your motivation to become a musician and songwriter? My dad was a jazz drummer and music fanatic. He taught me to play drums when I was three and bought me my first kit at five. I didn't have much of a choice but to be a musician! As I got older, I quickly realized that music was the most important thing in my life, and I paid attention to the way it made me feel. I wanted to be able to connect with others in the same way. •What is your daily function of your work towards music? Every room in my house has either a guitar or a piano in it, so when I'm feeling inspired, there's no excuse! If I'm working on a song I'll either head to my studio or sit and write lyrics outside. I typically record vocals and instruments during the day and mix at night. And even on the rare days when I'm not working on music, I'll use the time to listen to a new artist or band. • What have been the biggest difficulties you encountered in this industry? The self-limiting beliefs I put on myself; that I'm not good enough or that nobody wants to hear my music. I'm my biggest critic.

• There will be those who think you are very lucky, so tell us also about the difficult times you have lived until you get here. Well let's be honest I am very lucky. I get to make music that people love and connect with, and I don't need to be signed to a major label to do that. I'm free to create what I want, when I want. But it hasn't always been this way. For years the only way to get my music out there was with live shows and selling CDs out of the trunk of my car. After a while that can be tough. • How do you like to inspire people, make them passionate about your music? By being passionate myself. I can't expect someone to care about my songs if I don't care. I'm as authentic as you can get, sometimes to a fault. If I inspire people, I hope it's to be themselves.
