Pay rates by due date for discount

RATEPAYERS have until the end of the week to pay their rates to receive the discount.

Noosa Council is encouraging ratepayers to make their payment by the Friday 18 August due date to take advantage of the five per cent discount on the general rate.

Payments can be made via BPAY, online at council’s website, with a credit card over the phone, over the counter at any Australia Post office, in person at council offices in Tewantin, or by direct debit either via a total deduction on the rates due date or regular periodic deductions.

GemLife then engaged a legal team to pursue the Planning & Environment Court’s approval of the proposal.

In April this year, it was reported GemLife intended to make minor changes to the proposed site layout and file these changes with the Planning & Environment Court.

The GemLife appeal hearing began in the Planning and Environment Court in Brisbane on 26 July.

"Once the hearing is finished, the judge has to make his decision and that could take some time," Rod said.

In exchange for the 1.764 ha of golf club land, GemLife has committed to deliver to the Cooroy Golf Club a new golf house, pro shop, golf buggy storage for 40 carts, a new sealed 89-space car park, new entry road and course improvements, as well as 214 new golf memberships.
