LGBT Guide to Euro vision 2014

On behalf of Copenhagen Pride and the entire LGBT community in Copenhagen: A warm and excited welcome to Eurovision in Copenhagen The Eurovision Song Contest and the LGBT community have a long standing love affair. Like Ginger and Fred, Siegfried and Roy, Jaq and Gus, they seem a match made in heaven, and a match to be celebrated in loud and flamboyant measures. Third time host, Copenhagen has set it’s mind to make this 56th Eurovision Song Contest the most hospitable, friendly and diverse celebration of European popular music Europe has ever seen. We take this opportunity to show off our city for all it is. And we are determined that every visitor should feel welcome. The LGBT community in Copenhagen is strong, many facetted and well integrated in the city’s life. Bars, clubs, cafés, restaurants, organisations, theatres, festivals, businesses. All are contributing to the LGBT celebration of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. Since Emily de Forrest won the final in Malmö last year, we have been looking forward to hosting you all and to show you the best possible time. All the LGBT events during the Eurovision period are listed in this LGBT Guide to Eurovision in Copenhagen, provided to you by Copenhagen Pride. If you have any questions, please join us at the Copenhagen Pride information tent on our “Eurovicious Pride Square”, situated on “Regnbuepladsen” (Danish for: the Rainbow Square) adjacent to the city hall. We are open daily from May 3 until May 10, and we will do our utmost to help you. The biggest succes we can achieve is that you will find Copenhagen so thrilling, that you would want to return. In August, we would be more than happy to host you again, when Copenhagen Pride fills the city from the 27th - 31st of August. Not only are we the largest Festival of LGBT culture in Denmark, we are also the biggest yearly festival in Copenhagen, as more than 150.000 citizens take to the streets on Saturday in Pride Week to walk in or watch the parade march through the city. That means that one in every four citizens of central Copenhagen join in the celebrations. Let’s all have a tremendous party and enjoy the ESC to the fullest! When it comes to ‘going out the LGBTQ way’ Copenhagen offers a great selection of restaurants, bars, pubs, night clubs and saunas – some of which are open for business all night, all week long. Quite a lot of the bars and clubs are clustered in the same small area within walking distance. Make sure to find a street called ‘Studiestræde’ in Copenhagen city center as a number of these places are placed at or very near to that street. Below you will find a list of LGBTQ places in Copenhagen – we are sure that one or more of the places will suit your mood.

Cafés, Bars and Nightclubs Amigo Bar A gay-friendly bar located in Frederiksberg near Copenhagen city center. Amigo Bar used to be an all-gay bar, but today the pub has a very mixed clientele and targets the entire gender scale.
