TUESDAY 8/16 DEBATE TENT AT THE

With their lives at stake activists in Africa keep on fighting for their sexual rights. This debate focuses on the security challenges that LGBT people in these countries encounter every day. Activists from Kenya and Tanzania will share their stories of how they risk their lives fighting for their rights and a life in safety. In English. 14:45 - 15:45 TRANS AS A CASE

How do we form strong alliances across the LGBTQ-community? Based on the ongoing campaign for transgender rights, we have assembled a panel to discuss how the LGBTQ community can form strong alliances across organisations. In Danish. Participants: Copenhagen Pride, Sabaah, LGBT Ungdom, Transpolitisk forum, Trans Medium and LGBT Danmark. Organised by Copenhagen Pride.

15:45 - 16:45 NORM CRITICISM IN SCHOOLS

Why do we lack a focus on discrimination due to gender identity and sexual orientation in public schools? When will anybody pay attention to LGBT+ students? Why is the Danish LGBT+ equality policies so far behind for example Norway and Sweden? What can we do about the massive LGBT+ phobia in schools? What tools do the teachers need? The Normstormers invite you to a debate about gender, sexuality, norms, privileges, inclusion and discrimination in schools. In Danish. Organised by: The AIDS foundation and Copenhagen Pride.

16:45 - 17:30 TRANS TOKEN

“Born in the wrong body”, “The personal story”, “The journey from one gender to another”. These are narratives often used when trans people are mentioned and interviewed by the media. This presentation

will give the audience an introduction to the consequences of these narratives for trans people and how the world looks at and reads about trans people. We will discuss the pros and cons of the narratives look at possible solutions. We will talk about how to be a good trans ally, how to include trans people in debates and other public spaces in a respectful manner that can be rewarding for all parts. The debate will start of with a presentation by the group “Transpolitisk Forum” and end in a discussion with the audience. In Danish. Organised by Copenhagen Pride and Transpolitisk Forum.

17:30 - 18:15 ASK THE RIGHT-WING CHRISTIANS

The debate about religion, fundamentalism, and sexuality is high pitched, but is the dialogue charged? Could and should LGBTQ individuals try to understand religious critics at all - and vice versa? We make the attempt and invite to a dialogue about faith, sexuality and human rights. The panelists will represent christian groups who have actively opposed LGBT practice and rights and there is room for a Q&A with the audience. In Danish. Organised by Copenhagen Pride.

Organised by Copenhagen Pride.

19:15 - 20:00 THE SAILOR AND ALL THE SAILOR’S MEN

The male sailor is a revered sex icon for both hetero- and homosexuals alike. But how did that happen? WEDNESDAY 8/17 DEBATE TENT AT THE

RAINBOW SQUARE 14:00 - 14:45 IS DENMARK’S LGBTQ PIONEER POSITION AT STAKE?

The Danish government is currently working on formulating Denmark's new development cooperation strategy but there is also need for improvements when it comes to the rights of sexual minorities in Denmark. Prominent politicians from both sides of the political spectrum will discuss and consider the role and responsibilities of Denmark in the fight to ensure rights for LGBTQ people both in Denmark as well as worldwide. In English. Organised by Copenhagen Pride & The Danish Family Planning Association.

14:45 - 15:15 LGBT DENMARK’S INTERNATIONAL WORK

Being an LGBTQ person is still very difficult in many places around the world. Shame and fear of being outed and harassed leads to self-stigma and social isolation which can lead to depressions and minority stress. Susanne Branner Jespersen from LGBT Denmark will talk about how the organisation works to build confidence and reduce self-stigma for LGBTQ people in countries such as Tanzania, Uganda and Tunisia. In Danish. Organised by Copenhagen Pride and LGBT Denmark.

15:15 - 16:15 PERSONAL STORIES FROM AFRICAN LGBTQ ACTIVISTS

Meet LGBTQ activists from Tunisia, Rwanda, Uganda, Liberia and Tanzania who will share their personal stories and experiences from countries in which it is a crime to be homosexual and where persecution and social stigmatisation is a reality. The audience will get the opportunity to ask questions as well. In English. Organised by: Copenhagen Pride, LGBT Asylum and LGBT Denmark.

16:15 - 17:00 THE ACE COMMUNITY vs. THE LGBT COMMUNITY

Panel discussion focusing on the differences and similarities between the asexual community and the LGBT community. Asexuals like LGBT-people face bias due to their sexuality, but how are these prejudices overlapping with and different from those of the LGBTQ community? In Danish. Organised by Copenhagen Pride and the Danish Organisation for Asexuals.

17:00 - 17:30 ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL?

Just as a picture becomes pixelated when you zoom in close enough, the gender binary breaks down when one tries to focus on what actually defines gender. While members of the LGBTQ community are more likely to have reflected over their own gender identity, society’s expectations and stereotypes often still shape our views and actions in unintentionally harmful ways. TedX speaker and founder of Q-factor Becky Strohmer seeks to start a conversation around the impact of expectations associated with the gender binary and how the community can create a supportive and positive space for those identifying all along the gender spectrum. In English. Organised by Copenhagen Pride.

17:30 - 18:30 LGBTQ HEALTH POLITICS

This year a report was published on the health of LGBTQ people in Copenhagen. The conclusions of the report will be presented by Knud Juel from the National Institute of Public Health followed by a discussion with Ninna Thomsen, Mayor of Health and Care in Copenhagen, and Tommy Petersen, member of the city council, focusing on how the results of the report are being used and what political measures are needed. In Danish. Organised by Copenhagen Pride.

18:30 - 19:15 BEING OUT

Coming out and staying out as an LGBTQ person is important for many but because we are all different with different backgrounds the choice of being out can differ a lot from person to person – from setting to setting. What for instance is the effect of being religious or having a religious family and is it important to be out at work or to your old friends? Are we responsible for creating change and making it easier to be out or is it society that has to take responsibility of creating that change? This and more we will talk about in this session. Participants: Lai Christian Balsig, Ane Rindom, Fahad Saeed, Mark Nielsen. Moderator: Lars Henriksen. In Danish. Organised by Copenhagen Pride.

19:15 - 20:00 PARENTS MEETING WITH SABAAH

With the open mic, the AIDS Foundation wants to create dialogue and share experiences with sex and drugs in our community.
