In 2010, Robert Price, president of Price Charities, approached the Copley Family YMCA with a vision of a new and expanded YMCA. This Y would serve as a vehicle where people of diverse backgrounds can come together and participate in programs that emphasize youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Price family has dedicated the better part of two decades developing the City Heights community, and in 2009, Price Charities purchased the former site of the Pearson Ford Dealership at El Cajon Blvd. and Fairmount Ave., a 3.7-acre parcel, to build a new 53,000-square-foot YMCA. This larger, more accessible location now offers a state-of-the-art facility that was named Copley-Price Family YMCA in recognition of the major support provided by the Copley and Price families to make this new Y possible.

CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT At the YMCA, we place extreme value on children’s emotional well-being and physical safety. We are rigorous in our employee screening and selection process. Interviews, reference checks, fingerprinting and our Staff Code of Conduct are all proven practices to ensure proper staffing. Once hired, all staff attend a YMCA of the USA Child Abuse Prevention Training Program, and our management staff receive additional training in this area. Additionally, policy disallows any contact between children and staff outside of YMCA programs or facilities. We ensure proper staffing and knowledge through YMCA policies and guidelines that include: • Staff/child relationships • Staff recruitment, training and supervision • Parent’s rights and responsibilities • All YMCA staff are mandated reporters of suspected child abuse and are trained in proper reporting procedures to Child Protective Services.

I WANT TO GIVE BACK... SUPPORT THE Y
LEARN MORE: COPLEYPRICE.YMCA.ORG/COMMUNITY
At Copley-Price Family YMCA, strengthening community is our cause. We believe that positive, lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.
YOUR GIFTS AT WORK
We are dedicated to reaching out to and strengthening kids and families, regardless of income, across the Mid-City neighborhoods of City Heights, Kensington, Talmadge, Allied Gardens, Normal Heights, North Park, South Park, Del Cerro and beyond. We support these neighborhoods — some of them San Diego’s most underserved and at-risk areas — that count on the Y to be the community center for safety, strength and growth for all. Each year, we run programs designed to ensure that the youth in our community have opportunities to learn, grow and thrive. That’s why we raise money each year to pay for supplies, curriculum, experiential learning and financial assistance for youth, families, adults and seniors in need. Give knowing that 100 percent of your donation goes directly to programs that support our future leaders.

VOLUNTEER
Do you want to make a difference in your community? Whether you have a little or a lot of time to give, the Y would greatly appreciate having you as a volunteer. Here at the Y, we rely on volunteers to play an integral role in many of our programs.
What can you do as a volunteer? FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE We want everyone to have access to our programs, and this year we can do more than ever before. In addition to our community outreach efforts, we are able to provide financial assistance to help more people access our facilities and programming, regardless of economic considerations. If you are interested in applying for financial assistance, please contact the Welcome Center. HERITAGE CLUB The Heritage Club is comprised of individuals and families who support the mission of the YMCA of San Diego County — Copley-Price Family YMCA branch through gifts to the Endowment Fund or by including the YMCA in their estate planning. It is the commitment rather than the amount that is the basic factor in qualifying as a Heritage Club member. For more information, please contact our Community Outreach and Development staff.

HEALTHY LIVING
This past year, Copley-Price Family YMCA and our annual support campaign provided nearly $300,000 worth of financial assistance to families who could not afford a place to jump-start a healthier lifestyle. Everyone deserves an opportunity to pursue wellness.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
In the last several months, we have collected tens of thousands of dollars worth of school supplies, clothes, food and toys for families in our community who need it most. We are more than just a gym, we are a community of giving hearts who care about our neighbors.
