Personal Training
Port Moody Personal Training Client Success Story Client: Jo Faloona Age: 47 Trainer: Maria Morano,
Registered Kinesiologist & Exercise Rehabilitation Specialist Shortly after my 40th birthday I began training with Kari Werner, which was excellent, as I had no previous experience with weights or machines in the gym. Working with a personal trainer, taught me how to push harder and workout properly. I started to notice results immediately.
The Unforeseen A little over two years ago I suffered an orthotics related a back injury, I experienced severe nerve damage, as well as two herniated discs. The pain was very intense and in turn led to a strong fear of returning to the gym or starting any physical rehabilitation. I was advised by a Back Surgeon to strengthen my core, concentrating on my lower back, to avoid surgery.

Private/Team Fitness Training Designed for teams, coworkers, family and friends. Whether you want to do a spin, boot camp, yoga, Pilates or dryland training we can make it happen. Our top rated instructors will design a class to meet your specific needs. You can book a single class or weekly sessions. $125.00/hour. Phone 604-469-4558 for more information or to book a session.
The Plan Maria Morano came highly recommended as an Exercise Rehabilitation Specialist. I liked the idea of doing the rehabilitation at the same gym I had been working out at and there was a great benefit to having the flexibility of the gym hours and not being confined to 9-5. My goal is to get back to my level of fitness prior to my injury, to progress from rehabilitation with Maria, back to Personal Training with Kari. My ultimate goal is to build a strong core and avoid surgery with age.
The Results I have been seeing Maria since the spring of 2013 and have made an incredible amount of progress both physically and mentally. My sessions are designed specifically for my condition and I have had consistent progress week over week. In the beginning Maria, designed simple exercises that helped build my confidence and remove the fear of repeat injury. My core is strong enough now that I am able to partake in all pre injury activities and even better, I don’t need surgery! I’m also very close to reaching my goal of getting back to regular personal training.

Functional Movement Screening (FMS) Our Certified FMS Personal Trainer will introduce you to Functional Movement Screening (FMS). FMS is a ranking and grading system that documents movement patterns that are key to normal function. By screening these patterns, the FMS readily identifies functional limitations and asymmetries which can affect physical activity and performance. Once you complete the movement patterns, a score is given which is used to target and track progress and corrective exercises are prescribed to address possible movement pattern issues.
