CORDILLERA CARES

This new volunteer effort is designed to bring together our staff from all areas of Cordillera Ranch to give back to our Kendall County community. We are blessed to live and work in a beautiful part of the country and know that our combined efforts will help make it even better.

Our entire team from Cordillera Ranch, The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch, Cordillera Ranch Property Owners Association and DH Investments, Ltd. are involved in this effort to help support different nonprofit projects throughout the year. This gives our staff the chance to contribute to our community while getting to know our colleagues that work in the many different areas of Cordillera Ranch. There is nothing like laughing and sharing while working together for a common good to bring folks together.

Charlie Hill announced the initiative in July with a YouTube video highlighting the three organizations that Cordillera Cares will support in 2022. Brianna Botine, Victoria DeRocher and Kathi Spink are leading the projects and organizing our Cordillera team.

The first Cordillera Cares project supported Boerne Blaze, the local chapter of Special Olympics Texas. Boerne Blaze is an active group of more than 50 athletes with intellectual challenges ranging in age from 6 to 45. Cordillera Cares volunteers assisted at their annual kick-off event in July and will be hosting their End of Season Swim Party at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch in August.

July also brought team members together to support Hill County Family Services (www.hcfstx.org) and their BISD Back to School Hygiene Drive. HCFS operates at the intersection of urgent need and lasting change. They work to foster mental and physical wellness, stability and independence for individuals and families who are in crisis in Kendall County.

The Hygiene Drive supplied full-size soap, toothpaste and other necessities so these students can head to school feeling fresh and clean, along with a few sweet treats all supplied in a reusable lunch bag. Cordillera Ranch and Cordillera Cares teamed up to provide 60 bags — 10 over goal! Some staff donated items while other team members came together to stuff all the bags.

In October, The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch will host HCFS’ annual golf tournament and Cordillera Cares volunteers will be helping at the event.

Coming this fall, Cordillera Cares will be collecting toys and gift cards for the Kendall County Sherriff’s Office Foundation Operation Blue Santa. This annual event helps the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office provide Christmas presents for children in need throughout Kendall County.

Team members are encouraged to present volunteer ideas to our Cordillera Cares Board to focus on in 2023. There will also be awards and other incentives coming for team members to get involved.
