your dream. our passion.
We started building our first yacht, the 24.7 metre Spirit of Fitzroy in 1997. Since then, we have continued with an impressive range of high specification vessels, eight of them superyachts over 30 metres, including the magnificent Zefira at 49.7 metres and Ohana, a 50m performance sloop that was delivered in December 2012. We’ve learnt a lot over this time. Knowledge that we will bring to bear when we build your boat – which we would very much like to do. We respect the design work of your selected naval architect, and believe we have the skills, commitment and desire to create a magnificent yacht for you. To back this desire, we have a growing global reputation for the boats we build.
Our superyachts have been recognised internationally. Salperton III (now Artemis) was the winner in it’s class at both the 2008 World Superyacht Awards and the Showboats International Awards. Inmocean was a finalist in 2009, Salperton IV won Best Exterior Design & Styling at the 2010 Showboats Design Awards. Zefira was named Sailing Yacht of the Year at the 2011 World Superyacht Awards and won a further two awards at the 2011 Showboats Design Awards. Most recently Ohana was named a finalist in the 2013 World Superyacht Awards. We take some pride in that. We look forward to your yacht joining this illustrious list of successful superyachts. We do all this from New Plymouth, New Zealand. It may be the last place you would expect a world-class superyacht to come from. Then again, dare we say, maybe it should be the first.

Prec ise ly. P e r f e ct ly. THE ART OF PRO J ECT MANAG EMENT.
We do all the work in our own yard with our own team, from the detailed design, fabrication, mechanical and systems installation, joinery and painting to electrical and electronics. The hull, the interior, the decking and deck hardware, the stainless work. We do all of these ourselves which means that we take responsibility. We produce to specification, to time and, above all, to quality. Quality is everything.
The task of seeing that this is achieved rests with our Project Managers. In the normal construction process of a superyacht we’ve worked out that there are at least 4,000 scheduled activities that need to be completed to specification, to time and to quality. Precisely. Perfectly. The average construction time for a superyacht is two years – 730 days. It’s no small task being a Project Manager.

WE MA KE T H E BOAT WORK
We carry out all of the detailed design work in-house. The question of ‘Can it be done?’ never arises. Rather the question our designers pose themselves is how can it be done in the most innovative way – a way that nobody has thought of before. They surprise even us.

There is a pride of ownership when you have a superyacht. Well designed and well constructed, they are a beautiful and elegant craft. The yacht will say as much about its owner as any ďŹ nely designed home. So we will put everything we can into making them the very best in the world. No equivocation, no caveats. If it has our name on it, we will make it the best. We wouldn’t do it any other way.

After New Zealand’s success at the America’s Cup in San Diego in 1995 we saw an opportunity in New Zealand’s boat building industry and took on the seemingly impossible task of building a world class superyacht in our own backyard. We started building the Spirit of Fitzroy in 1997. We took a chance. A very big chance. We decided to build our first superyacht and we did so without a buyer. Why did we think we could do it? We loved the sea and sailing. And we understood complex engineering projects. Building the Spirit of Fitzroy took real New Zealand drive and determination. Building her proved to us we could do it. We then took her to the Monaco Boat Show where one of the first people to step onboard bought it. The rest, as they say, is history.

our home Fitzroy Yachts is set on the waterfront of New Plymouth, New Zealand. Fifty metres to the north is the moody beauty of the Tasman Sea. And thirty kilometres to the south is the 2518m snowtopped magnificence of Mount Taranaki. New Plymouth is an exceptional place to live which, really, is why we are here.
New Plymouth is a simple 35-minute flight from New Zealand’s major cities of Auckland and Wellington. And from the airport it is a short drive to Fitzroy Yachts. We would love you to come and visit.

Experience a country of spectacular landscapes and incredible diversity; one day you can be cruising around the islands of Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf and the next walking a track in the primeval rainforests of a remote National Park. In Auckland, our largest city, you’ll discover – amongst many other things – the best in shopping and dining. Wellington, the capital city, is a place where you marvel at the houses clinging to the hills, a cosmopolitan city of cafes and culture. Head down to the South Island and you enter a different world. It is a land of contrast; the horizonfilling Southern Alps separating the rugged rainforest clad West Coast from the vast landscapes of the East. Here there is Christchurch, the second-largest city, the Garden City with its quintessential Englishness and, further south, Dunedin with its proud Scottish roots.
If you prefer adventure New Zealand is a place where one day you can be skiing or snowboarding down a pristine slope and the next swooping, whooping and yelling at 10,000 feet under your tandem skydiving instructor. One day you can be mountain biking through a forest trail and the next sailing through breathtakingly beautiful waters. Our country is indeed the land of the outdoors and the outdoor adventure.

our Team Team New Zealand has become a household name in New Zealand following their consecutive wins in the America’s Cup in 1995 and 2000. In doing this, they became the first team from a country outside the United States to successfully win and then defend the America’s Cup. Their success in America’s Cup competitions have contributed to New Zealand’s reputation for producing world-class sailors and boat designers. Emirates Team New Zealand is currently competing in the Volvo Ocean Race, on the Extreme Sailing Series circuit and the America’s Cup World Series. In 2009 and 2010, the team competed successfully on the Audi MedCup series, winning the championship on both years. Fitzroy Yachts is a proud team supplier to Emirates Team New Zealand.

37.5m 1 2 3’ fast Crui si ng Slo op
FY1 7 In April 2012 Fitzroy Yachts signed their newest project a 37.5m performance sloop designed by Dubois Naval Architects, with an interior by Design Unlimited. Due for completion in 2014 the yacht is being built for European owners, and she will be their first yacht. The yacht, to be known by her hull number FY17, is an all aluminium design, with a fixed keel. She features a raised saloon and a fixed
bimini over the cockpit, which will have mechanically operated sliding windows. The master cabin and two guest staterooms will be located aft; with a 4th cabin, come day room, galley and crew space forward. Her strong clean lines will make her a striking sight on the water, while her top performance levels will make her a worthy competitor on the regatta scene.

Ohan a In July 2010 Fitzroy Yachts began the construction of Ohana, a 50m performance sloop that was delivered in 2012. Ohana’s European owner approached Fitzroy Yachts directly to build his latest sailing superyacht. “It’s especially pleasing to have the client dealing with us exclusively and recognising our reputation for the care and quality we put into our relationships and of course our yachts” said Rodney Martin, Fitzroy Yachts Managing Director.

Dubois Naval Architects have been commissioned by Fitzroy Yachts to design Ohana, with interior design and styling by the owner. Fitzroy have collaborated successfully with Dubois on many of their boats including the award winning Salperton III (now Artemis), Salperton IV and their most recent launch, 2011 Sailing Yacht of the Year - Zefira.

Z e f ira The European owners assembled a world class team for the creation of the 49.7 metre Zefira. Naval architecture and design by Dubois Naval Architects, interior design by Remi Tessier and engineered and built by Fitzroy Yachts. Zefira was always going to be something special. Zefira is the largest sloop Dubois has designed without a flybridge, generating a sleek and defined appearance. The flush deck forward, leading straight into the glass of the superstructure adds to this clear, streamlined effect.
A purely exclusive, harmonious and light interior design by Tessier uses white leather, bleached timber and stainless steel joinery to create stunning interior spaces that are open and relaxing. The craftsmanship of Fitzroy Yachts was again recognised on the world stage along with the owners and designers efforts with Zefira taking out the award for Best Sailing Yacht 45m +, along with the prestigious award for overall Sailing Yacht of the Year at the 2011 World Superyacht Awards.

salperton IV Following the award winning success of Salperton III, now Artemis, the European owner once again engaged Fitzroy Yachts for the creation of his next luxury sailing yacht, Salperton IV. Like her predecessor, the 45 metre sloop was designed by Dubois Naval Architects with interior design by Adam Lay Studio.
A proven concept and experience allowed the owner and build team to focus on detailed refinements. Carefully crafted walnut cabinetry with a continuous negative detail is a unique feature throughout the yacht as is the custom treatment on imported door latches, light switches and deck hardware. The design and impeccable workmanship throughout comes together to create a beautiful yacht that is practical, light and spacious.

4 1 m 1 35’ classi c Slo op
in mo c e an A classic style yacht, Inmocean has an easy flowing sheerline and long classic ends. The hull form not only promotes a gentle motion in a seaway, it also keeps the decks dry with good flare and overhang forward. The under body shape of Inmocean is also more classical than some modern forms. This takes advantage of the most recent developments in keel and rudder design thereby creating exceptional performance from a yacht of this style.
Below deck the interior layout by Adam Lay Studio is unique, with the owner and guest accommodation forward and crew aft. The owner and guests are not expected to be aboard during long passages so this was an obvious design choice.

gan e sh a ex zulu Launched in March 2006, Zulu, now Ganesha, was the third Dubois performance sloop built by Fitzroy Yachts and is a direct and refined development from her slightly smaller twin Helios, now Ludynosa. G. Significant but subtle changes to the design, interior layout and systems ensure she is truly an exceptional yacht. The modern interior benefits from increased space and a completely new feel due to Redman Whiteley Dixon’s careful balance of walnut and wénge, neutral fabrics and dramatic artwork by the owners.

ex HELIOS
Launched in 2004, Helios, now Ludynosa. G, embodied the latest thinking from the renowned Dubois design team. The atmosphere on board Ludynosa. G is quietly elegant, with an emphasis on spaces that surround guests in comfort and style. The practical and flexible layout of the interior by the Redman Whiteley Dixon design team is given life by the gloss mahogany joinery.
Meticulous planning means the rooms are generously proportioned, accommodating eight guests in four luxuriously appointed state rooms, including a large full width master suite. Flexibility to have formal dinners at a free standing table for ten in the lower saloon, to a unique relaxed Bedouin tent in the empty tender well, creates a very special and comfortable yacht.

Designed by German designers Judel/Vrolijk, Onra, now Neptune, was created for extended ocean cruising. The spacious accommodation includes a three-cabin layout aft, the owner and all guest’s cabins having private en suite heads. The two forward crew cabins also have separate heads. The generous main saloon provides a dining area to starboard and comfortable lounge. The deckhouse incorporates an additional dining area, chart table and inside steering position. Fully retractable side windows provide a pleasant open aspect and enhance the panoramic views afforded from the deckhouse. Interior joinery is American walnut, complemented by red leather upholstery with two Charles Eames designed loungers placed in the lower saloon to complete a very luxurious fit out.
