PHANTOM LINES

X NIKE NSW Adapted Travel Shoe

Discover my process - Team Project - 4 months

Team leader : Maxime Catteau Team members : Advaita Padubidri, Kurash Mestre, Achille Perrin, Sujay Samant and myself

USER IMMERSION We created several potential targets of travelers. We focused on three and created a detailed

trip scenario for each of them in order to find insights.

Life Breaker

World Curiosity

Business Routine

TARGET REFINEMENT We found that the formal

shoe was the less adapted to travel. We decided to focus on the Neo Businessman traveller, to create a shoe you can travel with for hours while keeping a formal style.

FROM EXPLORATION... After a post-it session, each of us sketched concepts according to different

axes : versatile, super specific, express, serious and comfort. Here are the one that I proposed.

...TO REFINEMENT

This is what I proposed to refine

the concept.

Small details have been added or removed to

validate the final proposition.

BIGGER DOUBLE PAGE AFTER SKETCHES UP SEMELLE EN ORANGE

ILLUSTRATED SCENARIO I made those illustrations, to quickly understand and describe our concept.

Follow the user & fit into a formal code

Provide comfort & efficiency during more active movements

3D MODEL During this project, I took the responsablility to create the entire shoe in 3D to help us make renders for the communication part. This was my first steps on Rhino.

FINAL PROPOSITION The idea is to have a clear cut on the shoe, with a formal front and a more sporty back and inside.

Bodysurfing suit

Immersion into the unknown - Personal Project - 3 weeks

CHALLENGE Bodysurfing is a sport where you surf with your body on the wave. I had to study the different techniques used by the professionals. Because of the power of the ocean, you can get easily hurt.

AIM Increase performance and safety for bodysurfers, keeping the aspect of freedom and fun.

EXPLORATION My research were mainly based on finding a solution to

float more on the water and protect the most exposed parts.

LOOTCH Spectacles

Design by experimentation - Personal project - 3 weeks

ANALYSIS EXISTING PROBLEMS

OBSERVATION AND DAILY USE One fact is that spectacles are not customizable in terms of usage. The user can not adjust them alone, especially the temples. Another fact is that they are made

of many pieces.

QUICK DOODLES For this project, I did quick sketches to illlustrate what I had in mind and to combine ideas together. I realised that to define spectacle shape, drawing wasn’t enough...

EXPERIMENTATION (TABLE OF MOCK UP)

EXPERIMENTATION I experimented on different supports such as paper, plastic (laser cutted) and resine (3D printing) to find a good result. Each validation have been made with user tests.

CONCEPT The idea is to assemble the temples and the frame together without any mecanism to reduce the costs.

DETAILS The cuts into the temples give flexibility to bend them as you need in the front and the back.

FROM 3D TO REALITY The next step for this project was to 3D print the spectacles, sand them in order to paint them.

INSIGHT One of the reason why people do not take their helmet is that they don’t them everywhere.

want to carry

QUICK CONCEPT I focused my research on the transportable aspect and the second not wearing it.

FINAL PRODUCT My proposition was an helmet with an

electromagnetic lock to fix on the scooter directly or carry a second helmet while riding.

HUMANITARIAN FIELD After a disaster, the access to the emergency site is often because of the rubbles

complicated

which hinder delivery of services and equipment. How can 3D printing quickly help offering shelters to people ?

RED CROSS 3D PRINTER The idea is to have a 3D printer that can build pieces to assemble together rubbles and3D recreate shelters. RED CROSS PRINTER The idea is to have a 3D printer that can build

pieces to assemble together rubbles and recreate shelters. To bring and use less raw material, the resine will be mix with water and sand to create the material

OUR MISSION Our brief was to create

a brand, starting from scratch, which enhances French craftmanship.

The idea was to study a technique first, in order to design a product using this technique in a new area.

LEADING ANALYSIS Each of us had to manage the team during the different phases of the project, I was

in charge of the analysis. The goal of this phase was to find and categorize the

different craftmen of France and define their techniques and specifications.

POST IT SESSION

SKETCHS

ILLUSTRATOR REFINEMENT

PROTOTYPING With a defined product, we were able to prototype it, one part in wood, the other one in felt. I learnt create the felt part.

to stitch to

FINAL PRODUCT Soon in production with craftmen collaborations

COMMUNICATION In order to communicate around our project, we recored every steps of the project, to tell the story of it at the end

“Corentin did a great internship : always motivated, he has a high level of care and attention. He can quickly adapt himself to different situations, and he is able to take decision when it is needed. It was a great time to have him in our studio, he is a good element for a team.” Maxime Debuse & Pierre-Marie Cronier
