Merits: Jon Olsson is one of the world’s best all-round skiers. He holds ten Winter X-Games medals (1 Gold!), took second at Winter Jam 08’s King of Style, came in second in his own completion, North American (08) open and won his own JOI 2006 and has won world-renowned competitions such as the US Free Skiing Open in Vail, Red Bull Big Air in Åre, Scandinavian Big Mountain Championships in Riksgränsen, the World Superpipe Championships in Whistler BC and Icer Air Championships in San Francisco. In addition to freestyle he’s taking on the Grand Slalom at the next Olympics. He came in third at the FIS competition in New Zealand!

Country: Sweden Lives in: Åre and Stockholm Age: 28 Discipline: Freestyle Other: Works as a Canine Psychologist. Results: Caroline’s been busy with her new vocation but always finds time to hit the slopes. She likes it best when the skiing is tough and the mountainsides are steep. When she’s not working, she is a skiphotographers model with her photos appearing in magazines throughout Europe. Merits: Two 4th places at the Extrem-SM, SM-Silver taekwondo.

Participated in films such as Teddybear Crisis and several of the Free Radicals films.

Country: Sweden Age: 34 Lives in: Stockholm Other: Living legend- Yes. President of Recipe, his own men’s skincare products company. Merits: Moguls; 4 World Cup wins, 1 World Championship Bronze, 6th in the Olympics in Nagano. Two total World Cup wins. Swedish Championship Bronze in 2006. Took 4th at the World Championships in extreme skiing, Alaska. 4 wins in the Scandinavian Championships in free skiing in Riksgränsen. A number of ski films and diverse old school-stunts.

This past year he won 2 cars, not bad for a kid who doesn’t even have a driver’s license!

Country: Japan Lives: Tokyo Age: 24 Discipline: Big Mountain Other: Spends the winter travelling around the US and Canada where he hopes to one day soon “be a champion”. He has skied down Mt. Fuji in a blinding snowstorm and is known as an all round nice guy who always has a smile on his face. Merits: Winner of several “Sickbird” belts such as at the qualifiers at Snowbird 2007 for the sickest run. Decent placings in competitions on the American Freeski Tour.

ENTRANT DERMIZAX by Toray™ is an ultra modern membrane fabric designed for extreme-purpose clothing. It actively controls the degree of moisture permeability depending on the microclimate temperature. The fabric utilizes its ultra-thin monolithic membrane’s polymer molecule movement to efficiently absorb perspiration vapor buildup on the fabric’s inner surface and disperses it throughout the fabric. Absolutely windproof, waterproof – 20 000 mm water lift, vapor penetration - 20 000 g / m2 / 24h; Dermizax maintains these exceptional characteristics by 80% after 20 washings. This material has a 3-layer structure. The outer surface with waterproof finishing protects the intermediate membrane from external damage. The inner layer moves out the moisture and preserves the membrane from destruction. Combined with superb waterproofness and tough performance this intelligent function makes ENTRANT DERMIZAX ideal for our most technical skiwear. This year we have choosen to use the technology on a highly stretchable material and present it in a 2-layer as well as a 3-layer version.

CROSS TECHNOLOGY Cross is always on the quest for higher quality and the best functionality. We are frequent users of our own garments and spend many hours on and off the mountain in our skiwear, not because we have to, but because we love to! Our designers live and work at the foot of the mountain in Åre and like them most of our friends are skiers by heart and we can’t let them down when it comes to quality! Beauty comes from the inside and the same goes for quality. We work with well known pattern makers and fabric and component manufacturers to ensure we provide the best performance possible.

Hydrotech is our microporous coating with a very high level of waterproofness and very good breathability. It is applied to different shell fabrics depending on the type of garment. All critically exposed seams are tape-sealed to create very functional rain gear at an excellent price-performance ratio. Water proof Water repellent Microporous breathable coating Lining

Breathable

FTX is our microporous membrane technology used in our most high performance garments. The ultra thin membrane is applied to an outer fabric to insure total waterproofness while retaining an extremely high level of breathability. A variety of outer fabrics are used depending on the type of garment. All FTX garments withstand a water pressure of over 10.000 mm, sometimes much higher – well above the minimum requirements for waterproofness. Seams on all FTX garments are tape-sealed and all fabrics are also impregnated to be both water-repellent as well as waterproof.

Cross Technology

Sportwool®is a superbly moisture absorbing, highly technical two layer material with Merino Extrafine wool (the finest wool from the Merino sheep) on the inside and polyester with high vapor diffusion on the outside. This combination of materials provides Sportwool® with the highly enhanced performance of unique vapor transfer and high wicking function (the movement of perspiration away from the body and to the outside air). Thus Sportwool® is a milestone material realizing an excellent function of temperature humidity control that eventually always keeps the wearer comfortable when performing active sports. This material has the same qualities summer as well as winter, inside and out. The wearer stays cool and comfortable. The secret behind all this function lies in the natural oils of the wool.

Fieldsensor® is a high-performance, multilayered sportswear material with a refreshing touch and easy wearability which eliminates the perspirationinduced stickiness and clinginess of traditional materials. By scientifically analyzing the movement of water through materials, Toray’s R&D effort created a technology which applies the principles of capillary transport to the structure of knitwear to absorb, move, disperse and evaporate perspiration from the skin, thus providing a refreshing feel during exercise. Fieldsensor® has gained an excellent reputation for its properties in golfwear and athletics wear. Some of Fieldsensor’s® key qualities are that it quickly absorbs perspiration, carries perspiration rapidly to the fabric’s outer surface and disperses the perspiration throughout the fabric for rapid evaporation.

The key features of Sportwool® are vapour management, great wicking ability, permanently and naturally odour-free, natural elasticity and stretch, natural UV protection and lastly a natural micro-climate system that can reduce ’post exercise chill’ which allows sport and ’activewear’ garments to breath naturally.

MICROFLEECE Microfleece is most probably one of the most popular materials to be developed. Its lofted fibres trap air, retain body heat and provide warmth without weight. Microfleece is highly breathable and dries quickly. Its soft hand feels great next to the body which makes it popular to use as a first layer in undergarments. But it also a very versatile fabric and works just as well in heavier versions as lighter jackets and sweaters. Durable and machine washable it is also the perfect material for kids garments.

Developed for the U.S. military for use in clothing and sleeping bags, Primaloft® is a down-like insulation that mimics the lightweight compressibility and warmth of down but continues to insulate even when wet. Its soft, supple and comfortable for active wear. Gram for gram it is a warm as down. The Primaloft® microfibers are similar in size and shape to down, resulting in nearly equal insulating performance when dry and even better when wet. Because its individual fibers are water repellent, Primaloft® retains much of its ability to keep you warm, even when outside moisture has soaked through. Similar to the structure of down, Primaloft® is highly compressible and easy to stuff. Its resilient fibers are quick to regain their loft to provide uncompromised insulation. Soft— comfortable and supple, Primaloft® insulation is like down, making it an excellent choice for active outerwear. It allows unrestricted movement and its light weight makes it comfortable for extended wear.

The Meryl®Skinlife fibre moves the antibacterial and anti-odour technology many steps forward. Perfect for use in technical underwear. The fibre successfully blends silver particles direct into the material, inside the individual fibres. These silver particles super effectively defend against growth over normal skin levels of foul-smelling and dangerous bacteria.This effect stays put wash after wash since it is not an outside coating but is inherent in the fibres.

CROSS POWER FLEECE Cross power fleece is a body hugging fleece material with four way stretch that provides unrestricted freedom of movement. This incredibly comfortable material feels great next to your skin, is warm with out bulk and due to its extremely high level of breathability keeps you dry and comfortable while performing strenuous sporting activities. Moisture is easily transported away from the body. t is wind and abrasion resistant and maintains these qualities through machine washing.

CROSS TECHNICAL UNDERWEAR New technology has made it possible to knit a garment that in principal has no seams to chafe and be in the way. A plus is that you can combine different knitting techniques to create a garment with varying elasticity in different areas to create the best possible fit to the body. On top of this the fibres are very comfortable against the skin. The newly developed Meryl® Skinlife fibre takes the antibacterial & anti-odour technology many steps forward. Before, you were forced to treat the outside of the fibre with an antibacterial fluid that successively disappeared in the wash. Now the new Meryl® Skinlife fibre successfully blends silver particles direct into the material, inside the individual fibres. These silver particles super effectively defend against the growth of foulsmelling and dangerous bacteria over normal skin levels. And the effect stays put in the wash!
