Wayne State University is now offering a free online course on how to respond to a shooting emergency. Because of incidents .. .such as the shooting at Henry Ford Community College.. .the university's police department helped develop the "Active Shooter on Campus" curriculum. Lieutenant Dave Scott.. .from Wayne State's Police Department.. .says students wanted to know how to respond in case of an emergency situation. "We did some research and found out that there is no training for citizen in how to react instantaneously whether you 're in a school... shopping mall... restaurant... church or any of these other places around the country where active shooter incidents have occurred in recent years. So not finding anything out there were decided to build our own. " Scott says the course can be taken online at any time. The course is available to the 43- thousand students.. .staff and faculty at Wayne State.
