When considering space travel the design of a saucer for the overall shape of the spacecraft actually does make sense if the right technology is available. If the propulsion capabilities of the ship are placed in the edge of the saucer and this edge is then able to rotate or turn, then the craft would be able to turn direction, speed up and brake with relative ease. The propulsion unit(s) would simply be turned around the ship until they are in the proper location to achieve the desired results. If this theory is taken a bit further and you are able to add adjustable 'nozzles' ends for detailed 'thruster' type movements as well as the general propulsion then the movement capabilities of the craft in outer space would be amazing. The typical question though, for such craft is if it would be able to fly within a planets atmosphere. Such as the UFO saucers believed to be sighted within the Earths atmosphere. I believe anything is possible if the right technology is available. The one main piece of technology needed for a saucer to be able to move within an atmosphere would be 'anti-gravity'. The idea of anti-gravity is not a new concept but the only way we have been able to achieve anything of this type is to produce a force to push against the force of gravity. Hovercraft are a great example of this. In any UFO saucer sightings there have been no obvious signs of such a force being produced. However, just because we can not see it, doesn't mean it's not there. With true anti-gravity ability, the propulsion and thruster abilities described should work to be able to maneuver the space craft in atmosphere in relatively the same way as in outer space. The air would produce more friction, thereby requiring a higher power output, but if gravity is no longer an issue than movement is quite simple.
Chris Patrick is an aspiring author, with an interest in unexplainable phenomenon. Tired of seeing only the same old UFO accounts on various websites, he started this site, so that anonymous people could post their accounts without fear of any reprisal or ridicule. If you would like to submit your own alien encounter account (or critique), you can do so here. If you do decide to post, he asks that you format and spell check, and you probably want to submit anonymously.
