The shape of the old viking ship mesmerized me, with it’s sensual yet bold, organic shape. That is what I intend to convey. The next watercolor painting is part of the same project.

I chose three objects at random, and combined them to make this composition. I tried to make the objects relate to each other, so that they tell a story. Preliminary sketches:

Present and past, memories disappearing or stories retold in a contorted way. These were themes I focused on in this portrait.

The three busts are modeled from imaginaton. My own hand was the model for the hand sculpture. Initially, I simply wanted to create sculptures that convey a feeling, or a story. Thereby the
title “Message”. While working, I contiously found new interpretations of my work, whereas “war and refuge” eventually grew to be my main theme/interpretation.

Komorebi Scene Theater stage prototype Approx. 25 x 30 x 25 cm Paper, cardboard, green film and flashlight Inspired by Norwegian folklore and different ways sunrays filter through the canopy of a forest. Like a Shakespearian stage it has two different levels - the elevated forest floor, and the low river bed. This can be used to symbolize hierarchical or physical distance between characters.

Goals
Shelter
Temporary or long-term homes for homeless and refugees
A feeling of safety and dignity. The house should be warm and well insulated, small and easy to transport and construct. It should also be self-sufficient of energy.
Sleeping space for 2 adults and up to 4 children The walls are pre-fabricated and of wood, since this is a biomaterial and abundant in northern countries. The walls are also very thick and insulated, and body heat will be the main heat source.
Criteria
Fit for a family (two adults, two or more children), and suited to a cold, northern climate.

Final design: light, organic shape
Process Model is cardboard and paper, all drawings are pencil on paper, edited digitally A recent study reveals that outdoor activity spaces in Norway are aimed at boys. The study also claims that girls like to talk while being in activity. In response, I wanted to create a park that motivates children to activity, without needing an organized sport. The plot was previously asphalted, and lies in an industrial area surrounded by 3-storey grey office buildings.
