SUPPORT MATTERS CORNERSTONE PARENT AND FAMILY GUIDE
COMMUNITY MATTERS
A PLACE TO CALL HOME.
FROM CORNERSTONE UNIVERSITY’S PRESIDENT
Parents,
The transition to college doesn’t happen overnight. We know you and your student have been involved in church and high school programs for many years and we want you to feel confident this next season will be even better. It’s our desire that Cornerstone becomes a familiar, comfortable and enjoyable home. FROM YOUTH GROUP TO COMMUNITY DISCIPLESHIP
FROM STUDENT SECTION TO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FANS
We are excited about the ways your student can help foster a living, breathing community centered on Jesus Christ. We believe in discipleship; the active, communal participation in growing together in Christ. The Student Development department coordinates small groups, worship teams (even for non-music majors) and corporate prayer events, and guides students to more than 700 church communities within 25 miles of campus.
With 18 athletic teams, Cornerstone has more than enough ways for your student to show their school spirit as a Golden Eagle. They will be able to cheer on our three-time National Champions Men’s Basketball team as a member of our student section, The ‘Stone Zone, and will also be challenged to think outside of themselves through athletic event fundraisers connected to our ministry partners around the world.
FROM EXTRA-CURRICULAR GROUPS TO STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS & ACTIVITIES
FROM A LOCAL COMMUNITY OF PARENTS TO A WORLDWIDE NETWORK OF THE CU FAMILY
Students are involved in far more than simply attending class. Cornerstone has ample opportunities for your student to continue participating in the groups they love. Whether it’s our local concerts, a Multi-Cultural Organization, music ensembles, theater productions and intramural sports, your student will have no problem getting involved. In fact, our Student Activities board hosts a campus wide event nearly every week of the year.
As parents, you have been incredibly involved throughout your student’s time in high school. We want you to feel like you too have been accepted to Cornerstone! Join us throughout the year for athletic events, Family Weekend, or just a drop in visit with your student. We deeply desire for you to be an involved member of our Cornerstone Parent community, a network that spans the entire globe! Connect with other parents of CU students at FACEBOOK.COM/CUPARENTNETWORK.
Congratulations on your student’s acceptance to CU! Thanks for the strategic role you have played in their lives and for your ongoing influence as they transition into college life. I am personally grateful for this opportunity to welcome you into the CU community as well. All the best!

PARTNERSHIP MATTERS
HELP YOUR STUDENT EMBRACE THEIR CALL. Being student-focused means partnering with your student even outside of the classroom. You can have the confidence that your student is receiving well-rounded, quality support in a Christ-centered environment.
THE WELL AND HEALTH SERVICES
The Well, Cornerstone’s counseling center, offers biblically rooted wisdom by trained and caring counselors. Health Services provides medical care for all types of symptoms and illnesses.
ACADEMIC ADVISING
Our faculty are more than just instructors in the classroom. Each student is assigned to a faculty member in his or her division who provides one-on-one, relational advising for your student’s academic curriculum. Meeting with academic advisors ensures your student will schedule a well-balanced semester with ample time for studying, socialization and spiritual development.
LEARNING CENTER & WRITING CENTER
Students seeking accommodations or increased academic support can take advantage of the Learning Center. Services include one-on-one tutoring, proctored tests and a learning strategies course. Students can also seek assistance with their research papers from the Writing Center, which will help students craft a nearly perfect assignment at no cost. Learn more about academic support services at CORNERSTONE.EDU/LEARNING-CENTER.
CAMPUS SAFETY
With no major incidents to date, the Campus Safety department provides extraordinary oversight, 24/7, 365 days a year, of the university’s campus. Stay connected with campus news through our text messaging alert system, offered to students and parents.
TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT
All students have access to our 100 percent wireless campus. State of the art technology and printers are accessible to students and students are able to purchase a laptop and support package at a reduced rate through our laptop program.
CENTER FOR CAREER AND LIFE CALLING
The Center for Career and Life Calling begins working with students once they confirm enrollment to help identify and develop their calling. 100 percent of students complete an internship or hands-on practical experience in their major with 94 percent of our graduates employed or accepted to graduate school prior to graduation.
JANA & HERB GASS WHAT MATTERS: “Seeing your child go off to college for the first time is not an easy thing. Yet, we enjoyed watching Alicia grow and mature in her faith as she was challenged through the different courses that she was given the opportunity to participate in at CU.” #WhatMattersCU
