Using different types of landforms to reduce the impact of lahar.

Upstream: Diversion hill (5m tall 20 -50m long)

Midstream: Ladder-type landform is beneficial to reduce the kinetic energy of falling rock

Downstream: Wave-type landforms could reduce the kinetic energy of the fluid by creating turbulence.

Dismantle old buildings, only the left column/slab/ beam, and foundation to simulate the “grid-type dam”, “comb dam” and “check dam”. Those structures could slow down the lahar and the falling rocks.

Using vegetation structures to stop lahar

Upstream: Bifurcated lahar with big trees (diameter over 30cm)

Midstream: Defer lahar with a high density of middle trees and use rough bushes to stop lahar

Downstream: The transition zone between urban and forest. Making it a park

After bloom
