Blow Glass at Sea Demonstrator/Narrator Celebrity Cruises Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Demonstrator Produces well-crafted glass objects to demonstrate traditional and contemporary techniques for all audiences. Maintains a varied portfolio which meets the required standards. Expands the portfolio. In the absence of the Team Leader, is responsible for the set-up, pace and quality of the show. Supervises flexible show schedule. Coordinates movements of all personnel on stage. Responsible for set/up and teardown of any needed equipment and/or materials. Narrator Clearly articulates an accurate and engaging narration of the glassblowing process to all audiences. Assists the demonstrator in making blown glass objects to the demonstrator’s standards. Modifies narration to address requirements for specific groups as needed. Interacts with audience; answers questions when on stage and off. General Sets up work area, selecting and preparing irons, blocks, tools and equipment as needed. Ensures that the furnaces, annealers, and glory hole are in good operating order. Performs routine housekeeping during and after each performance to maintain orderly appearance of work area and stage. Monitors glass and supplies required for demonstrations. Complies with all CMoG and Celebrity safety procedures, practices and rules, including wearing safety equipment, close-toed shoes, etc. Adheres to CMoG and Celebrity dress standards. Meets CMoG standards regarding demeanor, professionalism, appearance, work ethic, etc. Communicates regularly with Team Leader, whether onboard ship or remotely via conference call. General Requirements: Ability to create excellent quality and wide variety of glass objects quickly to required standards. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; professional presentation and demeanor. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work and speak in front of large groups of people. Must be fluent in oral and written English. Ability to pass a drug and background test. Current passport or ability to obtain a passport and proper visas as necessary. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to train in Corning, New York. Ability to travel to remote locations, live on board a cruise ship for three months or more, seven days per week, and work flexible hours.
