Today, choosing Film+Media means pursuing studies here in fiction, nonfiction, and experimental/ emergent technologies. Explore filmmaking, editing, videography, cinematic lighting, sound design, narrative, and non-narrative storytelling, documentary, and intermedia using a variety of exhibition formats.

Cornish has a 100-year-old history of hosting visiting artists throughout the school year and making them available to our students in master classes and demonstrations. Cornish’s Institute of Emergent Technology + Intermedia (iET+I) fosters student research, activities, and projects in emerging technologies. In the tech-meets-arts environment that is Seattle, Cornish students have the opportunity to work on interdisciplinary projects with local and international partners interested in using film and media in corporate world as well as entertainment.

Personal contact is an important aspect of our Admission process. We recommend that, if possible, you visit our campus and talk with an Admission Counselor. Your visit with us will allow you to meet one-onone with a professional who will be able to answer your questions about Cornish and offer useful insights about the portfolio review process. The more we are able to learn about you and your artistic vision and ambition, the better we are able to provide you with the information you need to make the right educational choice for your future.

SHOWCASE YOUR WORK Seattle’s strong independent filmmaking community and many pioneers in new media give students valuable internship opportunities. The city also hosts major film festivals such as the Seattle International Film Festival and the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY). Submissions from Cornish students and alumni have taken awards at these and many other film festivals.
