Recreation 50+
Message from Delta’s Parks, Recreation & Culture Commission Delta and the Parks, Recreation & Culture Commission are dedicated to offering a variety of important services and recreation activities to young-at-heart Delta residents. We invite you to explore opportunities in the Recreation 50+ feature guide, and we hope you discover something new in your community that can benefit you, a friend or a family member. We offer services at Delta’s two seniors recreation centres: Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre in North Delta and McKee Seniors Recreation Centre in Ladner. Closely connected to Delta seniors centres and volunteers, KinVillage is a seniors recreation centre in Tsawwassen independently owned and operated by the KinVillage Association. The staff and volunteers who operate these facilities are committed to providing programs and activities that support healthy, active and fun lifestyles specifically for people over the age of 50 because active living is for life.

Snow Angels A Snow Angel is a volunteer who comes to your house when it snows to shovel your sidewalk or driveway to ensure you can get in and out safely. How can I request a Snow Angel?
“
I am a fortunate man in my retirement. My children and grandchildren visit often, and they all know I would do anything to help them, if needed. So it is with my neighbours. If they need help, why would I not take time to do what is needed? Volunteering is a big part of what delivers the gift of happiness.
Any Delta resident of a single family home who is 65 or older or has a disability and is unable to shovel their own sidewalk or driveway can apply. North Delta residents call Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre at 604-594-2717. South Delta residents call McKee Seniors Recreation Centre at 604-946-1411. How can I become a Snow Angel? Becoming a Snow Angel is a rewarding opportunity! Snow Angels must be at least 19 years of age and be available for an interview. Fill out an application online at www.delta.ca/volunteers, email volunteers@delta.ca, or call 604-946-3288 for more information.
