PS MEDICAL
Psoriasis There are 5 types of psoriasis known today. The most common form of psoriasis is a disease with symptoms in the form of red spots, covered with silver-white incrustation of dead skin cells. Psoriasis can appear on any part of the body and is connected to other grave illnesses like diabetes, heart diseases and depressions. Symptoms and diagnostics Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that causes red, scaly spots on skin. It appears most often on the outside of elbows, knees or on head skin, but it can also appear at any place on the skin. Some patients with psoriasis report itching similar to a burn or insect stings. Diagnostics In 95% of cases the consulting physician can diagnose psoriasis visually. Psoriasis can look similar to eczema but there are several differences: Psoriasis patches have clear, round outlines; with eczema they are usually flat and with less sharp margins. Eczema usually appears in specific places, which is not typical for psoriasis: front part of a knee or behind knees. Psoriasis appears more often on the outside of knees and elbows, hairy parts of the head, lower parts of the back, face, hands, and feet soles. It can also appear in other places: finger nails, toe nails, genitals and mouth. By biopsy sampling, skin with psoriasis looks thicker and more inflamed compared to skin with eczema. Your physician should also ask you about your family’s history of psoriasis. According to statistical studies of dermatologist Dr. Paul Yamauti at Dermatology and Skin Care Department of Santa Monica Institute, California (USA), about one-third of psoriasis patients inherited it from their parents. Psoriasis Treatment Psoriasis treatment is of crucial importance for good management of the disease and general well-being. Regular consultations with a physician will help cure the disease by choosing a set of measures to reduce or remove the symptoms. What works with one person with psoriasis may not work with another. This is why it is important to know several treatment methods, and keep trying until you find the right treatment regimen and strategy for you. There are several psoriasis treatment methods in current dermatology practices. Grave psoriasis cases (biological intervention) Treatment by (bio-) medical products injected, for example, intravenously. These medical products are based on proteins obtained from live cells cultivated in a laboratory. The appearance of new molecular engineering methods accelerated the use of biomedical products in current medicine. This method is different from traditional systemic agents that affect the whole immune system. Biomedical products are aimed at particular parts of the immune system. Biomedical products used for treating psoriasis work by blocking the action of a particular type of immune

cells; the T-cells. They do this by blocking the immune system protein tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) or interleukin 12 and 23. Topical treatment This kind of treatment means prescribing medications that normalize cellular overgrowth and reducing inflammation for the affected areas. The most commonly used medications are corticosteroids (hormones). Vitamin D3 and vitamin A (retinoid) are also used. Phototherapy (light treatment)
Phototherapy (light treatment) includes the systematic treatment of skin by ultraviolet radiation under a doctor’s supervision. The treatment is carried out at the a doctor's consulting room, at a hospital specializing in psoriasis treatment, or at home with the help of special equipment. The key to success is perseverance. The National Psoriasis Fund does not support using solariums as an alternative to phototherapy, which should be carried out by prescription and under a doctor’s supervision.
Traditional systemic treatment Traditional systemic treatment consists of prescribed medications that affect the whole body. They are usually used for people with moderate, or grave forms of psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis. Systemic treatment is also used with those who do not respond to (or who are unable to receive) topical treatment or ultraviolet light treatment. Additional and alternative treatment methods Nowadays, many patients with chronic diseases including psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis have access to additional and alternative treatment methods. These methods are mainly focused on preventing itching and soreness. According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the National Center for Health Statistics (division of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention) more than one third of Americans (36 percent) use additional and alternative treatment methods. These methods include nutritional care, phototherapy, and such alternative methods affecting a human body like aromatherapy, yoga, physical exercises, and Tai Chi. Most of these treatment methods do not have scientific evidence in medicine. However, some of the methods are worth paying attention to and, after consultation with the physician can be successfully applied in psoriasis treatment.

One of the alternative and very effective treatment methods is the use of herbs and plant extracts.
Before taking any herbal medicine for your psoriasis please consult your physician. Some herbal medicines can have a harmful interaction with your usual drugs. Aside from this, some herbal medicines should not be used if you are pregnant, lactating, or have diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, psycho-emotional disorders. Israeli professional laboratory ON-macabim has developed a conceptually new approach to psoriasis treatment. Two new medications called PS MED REGULAR CREAM and PS MED FORTE CREAM have been developed especially for reducing – and sometimes the complete removal of – psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. These two medications are intended for external application and consist of a group of ingredients that have a centuries-old record in treating skin with psoriasis. The first group of ingredients is oils. They soften, moisturize, and recover skin (olive, sesame, grapefruit seed, jojoba, wheat germs, almond, Shea, primrose, castor, lemon, tea tree, lavender, rosemary, pine, sea buckthorn, and chamomile oils). Tea tree, pine, and rosemary oils have antiseptic, recovering, disinfecting, and antiinflammation properties. Peppermint and camphor oils have refreshing, tonic effects.
Hollyhock, chamomile, olive leaves, sage, and marigold extracts have immunestimulating properties and contain many antioxidants. Opuntia Ficus Indica and garlic

extracts contain phenols and flavonoids maintaining activity of antioxidant defense enzymes, in particular, superoxide dismutase destroying free radicals that damage cell membranes; mucus, vitamins А, С, К, В6, copper, zinc. Salicylic acid enhances the oil’s synergy and effectively removes inflammation. Salicylic acid stimulates epithelium regeneration, accelerating the scaling off of dead cells, optimizing skin thickness, and restoring barrier functions and collagen synthesis. The Dead Sea’s salt is the richest source of the most valuable minerals and microelements existing since life originated on the Earth. Human lymph and blood contain micro-elements that are composed of the very important sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and bromine ions similar to that of the Dead Sea salt. So, using the Dead Sea salt, with its unique minerals and micro-elements composition, is close to the chemical composition of human lymph and blood, making it an indispensable condition of a body’s healthy functioning. Propolis (bee glue) has anti-bacterial, anti-toxic, anti-inflammation and an anesthetic effect stimulating the body’s defenses against various infections. It also contributes to tissue healing and regeneration.
Application: apply the first or the second medication to problem areas at least twice a day. The FORTE cream has been developed for graver psoriasis cases.
PS MED C.P.R. Intensive agent for Couperosis and Rosacea PS MED C.P.R. The new development by the ON-Macabim (Israel) laboratory is intended for the intensive treatment of skin with Couperosis and rosacea symptoms. Hamamelis, chamomile, hollyhock, plantain, aloe, camellia, and marigold work together to effectively soothe skin and reduce reddening directly after applying the medication. One of the main active ingredients is bioflavonoid Tiliroside, which belongs to a huge group of plant metabolites whose valuable properties have been known for centuries. In nature, Tiliroside is found in the coat of young leaves of some plant species. Various tests have confirmed that the Tiliroside medication reduces visible reddening (capillary visibility). Studies have also shown that Tiliroside decreases the level of other harmful substances, such as KaKTNF-alpha and interleukin-12 related

to inflammation. The ability to inhibit histamine release makes Tiliroside a powerful cosmetic ingredient for all types of skin with high reactivity. Horse chestnut extract has anti-inflammation and anti-edema action, improves micro-circulation in the strengthening of blood vessel walls, and activates removal of liquid from hypoderm. Immortelle removes inflammation. It is recommended for treating skin diseases and irritations. It removes itching, reddening, and peeling. It also helps remove bruises from the skin. It is useful for relieving pain and reddening after sunburns. Troxerutin has venotonic, angio-protective, anti-inflammation, antiedema, and antioxidant action. Cypress oil, being a natural fragrance, is an anti-histamine (relieves itching, nettle rash) and is effectively used for improving couperosis and varicosis states. A selection of oils (jojoba, borage, grape seed, flaxseed, Shea, eucalyptus, lavender, sea buckthorn) intensely softens, moisturizes, recovers skin, improves its look, fights initial signs of photo and chrono-aging, as well as restores hydrolipid barrier.
Application: apply to cleansed skin at least twice a day. PS MEDICAL serum for growing lashes and eyebrows RISIM and GABOT These two products are based on the components synergy, creating a lasting outer effect. When used regularly, these serums not only improve the outer look of lashes and eyebrows, but also stimulate the growth of hair bulbs. Chamomile, hollyhock, rosemary, plantain, olive leaves extracts contain the required composition of micro and macro elements for intensive nourishment and antioxidant protection of hair. Olive, almond, primrose and jojoba oils envelop hair providing it with additional gloss, soften it, and prevent hair splitting. Pelvetia and Laminaria extracts contain cells similar to human skin cells. Due to the high content of isoflavones, Pelvetia restores skin cells activity, has moisturizing action, stimulates production of collagen, and prevents the loss of elasticity. Hydrolyzed keratin is a mixture of polypeptides and free amino acids contains arginine, sulphur, silicic acid. It is a product of acid, alkali or enzymatic hair keratin hydrolysis with subsequent neutralization, excluding enzymatic degradation. Millet extract, lecithin, and sorbitol accelerate tissue healing and regeneration, skin cell renewal, and hair follicle cells. They stabilize cell membranes, enhance cell metabolism, stimulate cell proliferation (division), and strengthen hair growth and volume, providing lashes and eyebrows with healthy and natural gloss.
