THESE LAST YEARS HAVE BEEN
CHALLENGING, filled with anxiety and concern. But in uncertain times, a little bit of beauty goes a long way to soothe the soul. I believe in the forces of good in our business, and I believe in the people that inspire us with their creativity and care. We have dedicated a large part of this issue to the outstanding talent of our Beauty Advisors, as well as to the innovative products that took top honours at the Beauty’s Best 2021 awards. Nothing could lessen the excitement and pleasure of that fabulous soirée! This year was a turnaround for our industry, with consumers returning to the shops to stock up on their favourite products. And there’s a bright spot in the near future: NPD Group research suggests consumers plan to spend 5 percent more on holiday shopping this year.
We’ve got plenty of inspiring, cool content in this issue of Cosmetics magazine.
Seeking gift inspiration? For the latest beauty products, enchanting holiday sets and delightful stocking stufers to give and to get, check out our section by Trends & Features editor Lora Grady, (Page 9). Makeup for Everyone reports on the evolution of the beauty aisle into an inclusive space for all genders, (Page 20). And I was thrilled to interview (in French) one of my favourite perfume creators, the enigmatic, talented, poetic, olfactory visionary: the one and only Serge Lutens, (Page 92) Now, throw your fears out the window, be flexible whatever comes your way, and go for your dreams and passions. Most of all, be beautiful! Have a wonderful holiday season and a super successful 2022!
