...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

I am a 26 year old Urban Designer and Planner from Piatra Neamt (Romania). I am very passionate about Design in general. Everything ranging from Graphic Design to Product Design inspires me, but more than that, the story behind each design is something that has become a hobby.

From September 2014 until June 2016 Urban Design Masters Aalborg University, Aalborg From October 2013 until July 2014 Urban Mobilities Masters Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism, Bucharest

I like working with people who have the same interests as me, but who also offer different perspectives towards a process, as I like being challenged both in what I design, but also in how I approach certain subject matters. It is these challenges that shape the final product and offer the research or the client a well rounded design. MY SPECIALITIES

01 CIRCULAR BUIKSLOTERHAM

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS warmtekoudenet

The project is located in the Northern district of Amsterdam, the Noord district, and, historically, it is a man-made piece of land, initially used for port and industrial type activities, called Buiksloterham. After developing, designing and building a pilot project for Circular Cities, called De Ceuvel, the studio and its partners developed a manifesto to help extrapolate those ideas to a larger area. This, in turn, defined the need for a research-based approach to see what and how life can be given to this withering area of Amsterdam. The design options were mostly separated into 4 different aspects that aim to treat the pollution problems present at the site: soil, water, building and infrastructure techniques. After this technical stage and developing a series of four case studies, two scenarios of development were envisioned to give life to the concept of Circular Cities: a 2020 timeframe where most of the planned developments are achieved, and a 2040 timeframe where Buiksloterham has grown into a sustainable urban core. 02 THE MOBILE LANDSCAPE - MASTER’S THESIS Dealing with former industrial areas is something that almost every city in the world has had to do at one point or another. But what happens when the area in question is the infrastructure connection between those former industries? Such is the case for Genk, where the former cole mining tracks have been taken over by nature and act as a barrier inside the city, restricting movement and limiting mobility options. By incorporating a new mode of public transport along this corridor and infusing it with social dynamics and making it part of the landscape, the entire area gets revitalized and the landscape that was formerly not in use receives new characteristics. The relevance of such a study reflects on how cities are transforming today, from industrial economies to culture and information driven ones, and on what cities can do with these types of spaces that are left in the wake of an industrial exodus. The “what can be done” question is answered through the design proposal where one of the stations of the new transport system was detailed. CONCEPT

MASTERPLAN: each of the four sides of the new transport station has been gives a specific purpose, to help diversify both the activities in the area, as well as the atmospheres created around this new mobility. The station itself acts as a connecting element for both the regional mobility of Genk, as well as for the local pedestrian and bike infrastructure, leading thus from the lower level of the proposed rail system to the upper part defined by car infrastructure.

03 GREEN RAILSCAPE

AALBORG, DENMARK

This project concerns the introduction of a new mode of transport through the heart of Aalborg - a light rail system is proposed to be implemented in the city network. Taking advantage of this new energizing element, that “railscapes the city, it is thought of as a catalyst for urban development and for the introduction of new, sustainable and ecological ways of thinking and designing, combining knowledge about ecosystems, traffic calming strategies and eco-mobile cities. The proposal is a masterplan for the light rail stop at Vesty Station, where the existing train tracks functions as a barrier separating green structures from the city center. Through this new energy that is introduces, these barriers are broken apart and experiences in motion are introduces through the integration of three very flexible biotopes along the light rail path. This allows daily routines to become more than a walk from A to B, they become a holistic journey by engaging peoples emotional and physical senses.

Combining daily activities with mobile situtions in an inclusive style gives way to more interactions and to more dynamic spaces.

04 GARDEN BALCONIES

AARHUS, DENMARK

Although often times perceived as such, “landscape” means more than just scenery: it represents the interaction between people and the natural world, within a given parameter of space. The focus of this project is geared towards the understanding of these relationships, by creating the spatial prerequisite known as “Garden Balconies”. These act as the mediary between the social and the natural and they establish the much needed relation between the outside world and what happens inside the botanical garden. These balconies act as proxies for the green house, both in form and in function, as they incorporate informative elements towards what people can see in the garden, be they in the form of info pannels or viewpoints.

05 THE PROCESS OF URBAN LANDSCAPING

AALBORG, DENMARK

This project proposes a different approach to urban landscaping, one that is not solely based on the traditional master planning process, but more focused towards the idea of landscaping and urbanism as a flowing process, that occurs over a certain period of time and does not just emerge out of nothingness. As such, the entire design is based on the idea that time is the main parameter that must be incorporated. Resulting from this is the division of the master planning process into three stages. These stages work in such a way that, even taken separately, can still work as a single project, although the idea is that, once put in succession, they create a development over time that ensures that the needs of the area are met for each stage.

06 URBAN COLLECTIVE HOUSING The concept of the hotel is that of integration. The appearance is that of a new, modern building that relates to its surroundings. As such, the main body is divided by height, wanting it to mold into the areas arround it by gradually lowering each level, while also situating the tallest parts in key places with regards to perspective views. The second body is just one tower, connected to the rest of the building by an overpass, and its displacement from the rest of the hotel is meant to suggest the relationship with the communist-type buildings, which are usually positioned in axis with the North-South cardinal directions.
