After my divorce I rented a nice Apartment in a nice area of Spain, and have been lucky to have lots of friends and good neighbours. My problem is that my family don’t come and see me as often as I’d hoped. I have three children, 9 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren whom I am never likely to see. Now things are getting easier after Covid, I have been asking my children to come and visit in the Summer. I’ve had excuses after excuses why they can’t come; their passports need renewing, they are out of work; then ultimately they admitted they can’t afford it. It’s difficult for me to go and see them as there’s never anywhere for me to sleep when I do get there, and I feel like an intruder.

You tell me your middle child had two of his children affected by Covid and he and his wife were also quite ill for many weeks. One of your other children’s partners lost his job, and also lost his Dad to cancer in that time. If your children are reluctant to come and visit, Write to Sara in confidence. a p S eudonym W ill be u S ed if you WiS h.
