The City Council finalises the award of a new contract for more than one million euros for food and basic necessities for families in vulnerable situations

the City Council of torrevieja will award a new contract for the delivery of lots of food supply and hygiene products of basic necessity to people in vulnerable situations. the Local Government board (JGL) has approved, as announced by the councilman secretary of this body, Federico alarcón, processing for the third time in this municipal mandate, a contract that has been promoted by the department of nGos and Volunteering in collaboration with the Social Welfare.

Specifically, the relevant documentation has been required for the award to companies that have been proposed by the Contracting Committee as the most advantageous offers for municipal interests. this new program of delivery of lots of basic necessities will involve an investment of 1,039,593 euros, which will serve for the distribution of a total of 22,500 lots in a year. a total of 15,000 food lots and 7,500 lots of hygiene and cleaning products will be distributed.

the contract is divided into a total of five lots, the proposed companies being Juan Fornés Fornés S.a. for numbers 1 and 4 of non-perishable food and bakery products. For lot 2 of fresh products, Central Logística Campos Leiva S.L. For number 3 of fruits and vegetables, the company of torrevieja, Gabriel Vicente Martínez López S.L. in lot 5 the tiebreaker will be processed between the mercantile, Muñoz bosch S.L.u. and Fumisan S.L. the Councillor for nGos and Volunteering, Concha Sala, recalled that the City of torrevieja was a pioneer in 2020 in the creation of this emergency aid in batches, in order to address the situation in which a large number of people were left due to the pandemic caused by the Covid-19. in 2021, a new contract was drawn up again, which was in force until 2022. between the two, 1,544,982 euros were invested and a total of 36,000 lots were delivered.
