The University Hospital of Torrevieja will host a conference on clinical action in suicidal behaviour, a meeting that brings together the interests and efforts of professionals who, in one way or another, are dedicated in Spain to the study and prevention of suicidal behaviour.
The conference will take place on 8 June in the auditorium of the University Hospital of Torrevieja. The meeting is aimed at any interested health professional. Suicide prevention is a shared responsibility of all healthcare professionals. From doctors to nurses, psychologists and social workers, among others, each has a role to play in identifying and preventing suicide.
The meeting, endorsed by the Spanish Society of Suicidology and the Spanish Foundation for Suicide Prevention, will feature nine speakers who are specialists in the field, psychiatrists, psychologists and specialists in family and community medicine.
“Suicide prevention is more important than ever, and all healthcare professionals must be prepared to help identify people who are at risk,” says Jesús Mesones, head of the mental health service of the Torrevieja health department.
