At the end of the Spanish Civil War, in the middle of winter, some 90,000 people crossed the Pyrenees on foot, between the Ripollès and the Vallespir regions, amidst the bitter cold and in extremely harsh conditions, to flee the repression of Franco’s army. The refugees were given asylum in Prats de Molló. What about cycling out of Girona along the greenway and linking up with the Thermal Springs Route? It sounds great, doesn’t it? Besides, halfway along, you’ll come to Cassà de la Selva, where we suggest making a stop to discover the vestiges of its cork-making past, an industry which was began in the town in the eighteenth century and starts with the narrow-gauge railway station. Leaving Cassà, you’ll cycle on to join up with the Thermal Springs Route and, afterwards, return from Caldes to Girona in comfort by train (you’re allowed to take bikes on “Rodalies” suburban trains!). 32.50 km altogether, pedalling through fields and woods all the way: definitely not to be missed!

The Vallter 2000 Leisure Park has a sledge run. Come and have a great day in the snow with all the family! You can go up to the top by conveyor belt. Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult on the runs, and it’s advisable for kids to wear a helmet. This leisure area is only open on weekends and public holidays. The sledge pass includes entry to the enclosure, use of the conveyor belts and accident insurance. Sledges can be hired at the shop.
