STUDENT NAVIGATORS

The Student Navigators provide outreach and guidance to prospective and current students and will assist them in accessing a wide variety of services and resources available at the College.

Navigators are available to students at the Cranbrook campus, and online for all campuses and online students.

The Student Navigators can assist with:

• Developing life skills, time management, and organizational skills

• Assisting with the application process for the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program and additional bursaries

• Accessing counselling and wellness supports

• Problem solving, where to seek help and learning how to identify solutions

• Providing one-to-one support with goal setting and tracking progress

• Building connections to the community

• Referring to Indigenous Students Services, Education Advising, Accessibility Services, Learning Resource Centre, Employment Services, Information Technology, Financial Aid and external community organizations to facilitate ongoing support for students

• Peer Mentorship Program

EDUCATION ADVISING

Education Advisors can help with:

• Education and career planning

• Assistance with application and registration processes, entrance requirements, upgrading, course pre-requisites, graduation requirements, transfer credits, College policy interpretation and flexible assessment (prior learning)

• Study skills strategies

• Student concerns or issues.

ASSESSMENT SERVICES

Assessment services are free of charge. Results may be used to qualify for program acceptance, determine academic skill level for placement, assist in career planning, satisfy agency requirements or for other personal goals.

PEER MENTORSHIP

The Peer Mentorship program is students helping students with support and guidance during their time at College of the Rockies. Mentors enhance their leadership skills while engaging in fun activities that provide mentees with both one-on-one and group connections.

ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES

Students with physical, learning, or psychological challenges can receive supports to reduce barriers and maximize success. Services include: exam accommodations, access to adaptive technology, assistance with note taking, tutor support and general advocacy.

SERVICES FOR INDIGENOUS STUDENTS

The Indigenous team provides support to prospective and current Indigenous students for education advising, career planning, financial planning, counselling support and cultural teachings and activities.

PEER ASSISTED LEARNING

(PAL)

This free tutoring service is offered to students who have identified a need for extra help in a subject area. PAL Leaders are College of the Rockies students who have passed the subject in high standing or who are strong current students. PAL Leaders support learning and assist students to understand course materials. This service is available in-person or on-line using MS Teams.

COUNSELLING AND WELLNESS

We recognize that college presents a wide range of challenges. College is a time for personal growth, learning, and self-knowledge, but it isn’t always easy. Our experienced team of counsellors are available to help you make the most of your educational experience. All services are provided at no charge and are accessible to students who are currently enrolled at the College of the Rockies.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Getting a post-secondary education is an important investment in your future. Our Financial Assistance and Awards Officer can help you to apply for federal and/or provincial financial assistance as well as for numerous scholarships and bursaries. Assistance with financial planning and budgeting is also available.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

Our Co-op and Employment Services team can provide in-person and on-line employment and career support as well as co-op and practicum placement services for students and graduates. You will also find assistance with job search skills, resume writing, cover letters, networking, interview skills, volunteer options, labour market information and federal/provincial government employment initiatives information.
