College of the Rockies is EQA Certified! What is Education Quality Assurance (EQA)? EQA is a quality assurance designation that identifies and promotes public and private post-secondary institutions that have met or exceeded government recognized quality assurance standards and consumer protection mechanisms.

1

Why College of the Rockies? There are a lot of post-secondary institutions to choose from, so why should you choose College of the Rockies?

We like to think we’re pretty friendly and cool folks to hang out with but if that isn’t motivation enough, here are some other reasons you should consider starting or completing your post-secondary education with us:  Studies show students who start their postsecondary education at a college before going on to university are more successful than those who go directly to university.  COTR’s non-competitive entry means if you meet program admission requirements you are accepted on a “first-applied, first-admitted” basis.  We have options available for you to complete a certificate, a diploma, an Associate’s degree or a four-year Bachelor’s degree  We offer a wide variety of quality programs in arts and sciences, business, tourism, engineering, health, trades, child and youth studies and more.  Our small class sizes mean more personalized attention to help you to be successful

2

 We have competitive tuition rates and affordable living costs.  Our spectacular lifestyle – surrounded by pristine mountains, lakes and trails you are never far from amazing hiking, biking or skiing opportunities. We believe in letting you create your journey. Whether this means completing an entire vocational program here, starting your educational journey with us and transferring to university or taking online courses while working and taking care of your family, we want to help you find the path that works for you. This guide is a starting point for your journey. In it you will learn about our programs, our support services, campus life and about the Kootenay Rockies lifestyle. We will guide you through financial aid options and admissions procedures and will introduce you to some of our former students. The goal of our faculty and staff is to ensure you receive an outstanding experience in an excellent academic setting.

Fund Your Education

Your education is an investment in your future. BC Colleges estimates the cost of attending a BC college is 35 to 45 percent less than a BC university. Still, financing your education can be challenging. The Financial Aid and Awards office is here to help you navigate through all of your options. Our Financial Assistance and Awards Advisor can help with budgeting as well as applying for a student loan, scholarships and bursaries or for emergency funding. Did you know there are thousands of dollars of entrance awards available to applicants entering full-time programs at College of the Rockies? There are also dozens of other bursaries and scholarships worth from $250 to $5000 or more available for current students. Our Financial Assistance and Awards Advisor has information on additional grants for specific program areas. Some grants and scholarships are awarded based on academic merit while others are based primarily on financial need. It is definitely worth it to make an appointment and discuss your options.

StudentAid BC helps eligible students with the cost of a post-secondary education through loans, grants, bursaries, scholarships and specific programs. If you are not a BC resident, you can apply for the provincial loan programs for the province where you last resided for 12 consecutive months.
