When C&G Media Group launChed NYC&G 10 years ago, we didn’t quite know what to expect. Our sister publications HC&G and CTC&G were well-established luxury regional design titles, but greater New York was a trickier nut to crack. Our territory was much vaster, if not a little overwhelming—from the upper Hudson Valley to Long Island’s Gold Coast and points in between. But what seemed to be “right” for NYC&G was what seemed to come naturally: good design, with something for everyone. While revisiting our premier issue from March 2012, I remembered the strong, compelling personalities behind the striking variety of projects we featured. (As an editor, I have always aimed for a heady combination of both.) A decade later, we still get the occasional “So, what’s a New York cottage?” joke, but that doesn’t come up very often anymore.

I hope you enjoy this special anniversary issue highlighting some of my alltime favorite stories. After 10 years, I think readers know who we are.
