Fundraising Success For Hospice

Thetford Open Gardens are jubilant following the success of this year’s event. 25 gardens opened on June 26th, welcoming over 600 visitors across the town. This year the gardens were situated from the south side of the town, running into the town centre and then along the northeast side of Thetford to Kilverstone, including the new Kingsfleet development. The weather was glorious as visitors enjoyed an array of plants, garden features and refreshments. The team behind the event are thrilled to announce that they have currently raised £11,481.71 and are hoping to hit £12,000 by the end of their campaign on September 30th. Many of the garden owners joined the team shortly after the event for the Grand Prize Draw, and to be thanked for their support, “It really is a team event”, said organiser Karen-Emma White, “we couldn’t do this without the support of those who open their gardens, our sponsors, those who volunteer to help or sell tickets, our box office, ticket holders and the support of St Nicholas Hospice team, especially Miranda McCoy who looks after us.” Thetford Open Gardens has recently been short-listed for the BBC Radio Norfolk’s Make A Difference Awards in the fundraising category,
the winner will be announced on September 15th. As the event moves towards its 17th year, the team are as passionate as ever about supporting St Nicholas Hospice Care, and want to continue raising as much money as possible. They are now looking for other people to join them organising the event.
