Here are a few little tips for unruly eyebrows! Occasionally, brows grow too long and can look very unkempt. People often pluck out a hair which maybe too long or coarse instead of opting to trim. This can leave brows looking patchy and uneven. If your brows like to do as they please instead of lying flat, a handy tip is an old mascara brush, wipe off any excess and use it to comb gently through the brows. It will keep them in place and can help to make them appear a little thicker and less uneven. If some of the brows appear too long, then brush them upwards and trim a small amount from the top. When you then comb them to lay flat towards the side of the face, they will not be too short and lay neatly. We often tint brows in the salon, this helps to give them more definition and to pigment any coarse, grey/white hairs. This is a better option than to pluck out random white ones leaving the brow looking too thin. Another option is permanent makeup. I really enjoy doing this as eyebrows frame the face and give us so many expressions. Some of my clients need full brow reconstruction as they may have over plucked over the years or for other reasons their brows just may have stopped growing. I always work by measuring the correct width and determine the shape by the client’s natural face shape and then work out which shade would best suit them. Brows are naturally always a few shades darker than your hair colour, but our skin has different under tones, some are cool and some warm. So there is a lot to consider before I even pick up my tattoo handpiece! The finished result will look very natural once it is healed and the true colour will be seen about a month after treatment. It’s called permanent makeup because the pigment always remains in the skin but I use soft tertiary colours so they fade natural over time hence, clients need a refresh of colour between, 12 to 18 months as a guide.
