Jess Triumphs At England Debut

It’s celebration time for Thetford Athletics Club as one of their athletes made her England debut this August. Former Thetford Academy and Thetford Grammar School pupil, Jess Norkett earned her first ever England selection and came away with a fantastic win.

Jess had the honour of representing England at the Welsh U20 International which was held in Swansea and featured teams from England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland. In a very tactical 800m race, Jess managed to hold off the other athletes to take the victory, earning maximum points for her country in the process. As well as taking the gold medal in her race, she helped England become the leading country by winning the event overall.

Earning England selection was a very proud moment for Jess and her family, as well as everyone at Thetford Athletic Club where she has been a member since the age of 9. Now, 19 year old Jess studies at Loughborough University and is looking forward to her next competition.
