Dear friends, Architecture is an ever-changing and dynamic profession. As architects, we are constantly creating, interpreting, analyzing and documenting. Architectural documentation has existed since the first building. The earliest known record of a building’s existence is from the 6th century BC in ancient Babylon. Materials and dimensions were recorded on clay tablets. It was not until three thousand years later that the documentation of architecture began to resemble what we would consider an architectural drawing today. In 1717, Jean-François Blondel created the first architectural drawing of a French chateau with plan and elevation views on one sheet of paper. The importance of documenting architecture has increased over time due to its necessity for future construction, restoration of existing structures and providing evidence of historical significance. The ability to record an existing or newly designed project in every stage throughout its life cycle allows for various uses in time. Historic preservationists can use drawings to determine how a building may have looked hundreds of years ago. Architectural historians can study plans to analyze parts that have been altered or removed over time which aids them in determining the historical significance of a structure. Archaeologists can use pictures and drawings to help them visualize what a particular structure may have looked like hundreds or thousands of years ago, without having to perform any destructive tests that could damage the original object. The ability to record an existing structure or newly designed building also allows for the design or restoration of future buildings and structures. Since documentation represents the evolution of an idea from conception to execution, it preserves and reflects our history, culture, and society and must be considered a fundamental part of the design process from the outset. Every drawing is valuable, every picture tells a story, and behind every word is a world to imagine!.

COA has issued its First Revival Magazine in the month of March and the theme discusses the effects and outcomes of COVID-19 on architectural production, education, culture, profession, environment and technology. Curated in the aftermath of the pandemic, the intent is to also ‘reacquaint’ ourselves to the history and the contemporary with a vision for the future.

Open Call for the Next Issue of Architecture Time Space & People Architecture has always been a response to change, adapting to the language of its time. Whether it was

the rebirth of the classical style during the Renaissance period, the rise of steel during the Industrial Revolution, the pyramids of Giza epitomizing the might of an entire civilization or the soaring glass towers of today's cities - architecture has been ever-adapting and accommodating.

incorporating new technologies and materials and some old ones in new ways. For this issue of Architecture Time Space & People, we are looking for entries that showcase architecture that is deeply rooted and 'adapt'ed to its geographic, social, historical, demographic and climatic context.

At present, concerns have shifted from the form of a building to its footprint on the environment. This era of environmental awareness has been a catalyst for two major changes in architectural thinking: an increased concern over climate change and a focus on sustainable and eco-friendly techniques. Buildings are adapting to the shift,
