—Electronic Chip Timing— IMPORTANT RACE INFORMATION WEAR YOUR RACE BIB PROPERLY
The timing chip being used for this race is attached to your bib. You must wear the bib on the front of your body, preferably chest high. Our staff needs to be able to read your bib number as you cross the finish line. Thus, please wear the bib on the outside of your clothing. If you do not wear the bib on your chest, your timing chip may not be read properly. At the end of the race, you may keep the bib and you do not need to turn it in.
CORRECT WAY TO W EAR YOUR BIB Notice that the bibs are worn properly on the chest of the runners and they’re visible. Use two safety pins on the top of the bib to secure it.
THESE PICTURES SHOW HOW NOT TO WEAR YOUR BIB The bib should not be placed anywhere on your legs. You should not fold up the bib and carry it in your hand/pocket. Do not place the bib on a jacket and then carry the jacket or tie it around your waist. Finally, don’t wear the bib on the back of your body. Each participant in a competitive event must pick up a disposable electronic B-tag attached to their race bib. You must wear your race bib across the start and finish line to activate your chip time. The race bib and chip may be picked up at the Health & Fitness Expo on Friday or at the Start Line on Saturday. Your chip is registered to your race number, so do not trade or switch with someone else. If you decide to run a different race than you registered for, you are required to contact the 10K office at 270-796-2141 before October 18 to change your race number. RACE RESULTS October 25, 2017: go to www.3wayracing.com for race results. Race results can also be viewed on MedCenterHealth10KClassic.com. All race results will be final after October 25, 2017. Age division awards will not be mailed. Awards given at the awards ceremony.

–Med Center Health 10K Classic...How It All Started– The “10K Classic” was started in 1979 and was nationally known as the Wendy’s 10K Classic. In 1988, the race name was changed to The Bowling Green 10K Classic and continued to draw thousands of people around the world to race in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Over the years, events have been added to this race such as the 10K wheelchair race, 5K run/walk, 1.5 mile fun walk and the Children’s Classic. In 2000, The Medical Center became the Title Sponsor of the events. Now, in its 38th year, Med Center Health 10K Classic is known by all as “The Race for Everyone”. This event captures every age and athletic ability and encourages the true mission of this race, health for all ages.
In the three decades of the Med Center Health 10K Classic, there have been countless economic dollars spent in the region, thousands of dollars given away to participants, thousands of awards given for notable achievements, but all is for naught when compared to a joyful participant crossing a finish line. The Med Center Health 10K Classic has been and always will be about giving the participant more than they paid for. We hope you enjoy the races and will continue to make it a part of your fall activities with family and friends.

—Final Race Instructions & Preparations— YOUR RACE NUMBER Each participant will be issued a race number. Please check to see that all information is correct. If there is an error, please notify the 10K office. Do Not Lose It! Your electronic timing chip will be attached to your race bib. You must have it to pick up your T-shirt. It is also your ticket to the pasta party and race day breakfast. ELECTRONIC CHIP TIMING Each participant in a competitive event must pick up a disposable electronic B-tag attached to their race bib. You must wear your race bib across the start and finish line to activate your chip time. The race bib and chip may be picked up at the Health & Fitness Expo on Friday or at the Start Line on Saturday. Your chip is registered to your race number, so do not trade or switch with someone else. If you decide to run a different race than you registered for, you are required to contact the 10K office at 270-796-2141 to change your race number. MEDICAL INFORMATION Please take the time to fill out the medical information on the back of your race number. Please print and use a ballpoint pen. This information is very important in case of an emergency on the course or elsewhere. WATER STATIONS AND SPLITS Please remember to drink plenty of fluids. Water stations are located at the start and finish line. In addition, water stations are located at these approximate points in the 10K: 2-mile, 3 1/2-mile, and 5-mile. Port-a-Johns are stationed at the Start. Restrooms will also be available in the stadium. EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES Mobile ambulance units from The Medical Center’s EMS are stationed throughout the race course and finish line if you need assistance. FUN WALK AND 5K RUN/WALK START The 1.5 Mile Fun Walk and the 5K Run start on University Boulevard outside of Houchens Industries L.T. Smith Stadium. Participants in the Fun Walk cannot run, but participants in the 5K Run can run or walk! There will not be separate awards for walkers. 10K START Participants in the 10K should begin to assemble at the Start Line, at 7:50 am. Seeders will place you on the
starting line based upon your expected 10K running pace. Seeders will have signs that indicate the number of minutes that, on the average, a runner expects to run each mile. For example, if you expect to run the 10K in 40 minutes, then line up behind the seeder at the start with the sign that shows “6 Minutes.” For the safety of all runners, please do not line up ahead of your realistic pace. Such action will impede the faster runners and also can cause a safety hazard. FINISH LINE CHUTES When you cross the finish line, do not stop. Because of the electonic chip timing, the need for chutes has been removed. Please continue to jog through the entire length of the finish line area and deposit your entry into the $10,000 Cash Prize Drawing. PARKING There is plenty of parking on and around the WKU campus, but please try to arrive early and be aware that most streets around campus close at 7:00 am. See the course map at MedCenterHealth10KClassic.com. U.S. FOODS PASTA PARTY Your pasta party ticket is on your race number. Everyone is invited to enjoy pasta, garden salad, bread, dessert and beverage. The dinner will be held at the Sloan Convention Center, next to the Health & Fitness Expo, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday, October 20. Additional tickets may be purchased at the door. Adults are $5, children ages 6-12 are $3, and children under 6 are admitted free. U.S. FOODS POST-RACE SNACK Your ticket to the post-race snack is on your race number. Enjoy snacks, beverages, and entertainment located near the Finish Line area. IN THE EVENT OF RAIN Come anyway, all events will be held, rain or shine! RACE RESULTS October 25, 2017: go to www.3wayracing.com for race results. Race results can also be viewed on www.MedCenterHealth10KClassic.com. All race results will be final after October 25, 2017.
