National Curry Week runs from 4-10 October, so this month we take a look at the region’s best

Namaste Village

This popular family-run restaurant in Norwich serves a wide variety of fl avourful vegetarian and vegan food from different regions of India. The building is beautiful too, having been built in 1887 by an architect who also happened to be a vegetarian! The restaurant also hosts cookery classes once a month, so you can learn how to make your own authentic Indian dishes.

The Bank

Situated in the former Lloyds Bank building in Sheringham, aptly named The Bank serves up the fi nest Nepalese and Asian cuisine. You’ve had a balti, a tikka masala and a madras – it’s time to branch out and try a buteko masu, a lamb mysor or a chatapata. Everything is made with homemade original spices and organic products from the Himalayan foothills.

The Merchants of Spice

Date night curry? No one does fi ne Indian dining quite like The Merchants of Spice. Both restaurants (one in Colgate, one in Thorpe St Andrew) promise the fi nest locally sourced ingredients, fl avoured with authentic herbs and spices. The fabulous food is complemented by the restaurant staff’s fi rst class service.

• The fi rst curry restaurant opened up in London in 1810. Today, there are more curry houses in London than there are in Mumbai! • The title of hottest curry goes to the ‘Flaming Fiery Phaal’, made with two of the hottest chilli peppers on earth (Scorpion and Naga).

Indiagate Beccles

Opened in 2004 and nestled in the heart of Beccles, Indiagate offers casual fi ne dining Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine to eat in or deliver. Loved by locals this authentic taste of India offers a great selection of dishes. Having recently received a Travellers Choice Award from Tripadvisor this restaurant consistently delivers great quality. Frequented by several members of the Places&Faces team this culinary delight is a staple on our foodie radar.

Spice Den, Lowestoft

Situated in the market square this family run restaurant is beloved by locals. Their Naga Chilli Massala is of particular note, but be warned... it's hot and not for the faint hearted. With their craftsmanship with spice it’s well worth paying them a visit or ordering a takeaway to celebrate National Curry Week (and beyond!).
