Scotland is a stunning place to visit for holidays, beautiful, innovative and full of riveting things to see and do, all the way from the beautiful capital of Edinburgh to the furthest flung Shetland Isles.

The whole country is a work of genius by Mother Nature, replete with some 282 mountains over 3,000 feet tall, classed as ‘Munros,’ including Britain’s tallest, Ben Nevis; more than 30,000 freshwater lochs including Lomond, the biggest at more than 27 square miles in area; 7,500 miles of rivers, numerous wooded glens, waterfalls and heather-clad moorlands. For inspirational walks, drives and bike rides, many head west to Argyll and combine them with island hopping and kayaking.

Humankind has added its own many masterpieces, among them some amazing cities, around 1,500 castles, 550 golf courses and 130 whisky distilleries. It is famous for trout and salmon fishing, some 60 Highland Games during the summer season and a quite astonishing array of locally produced food and drink, from Arbroath smokies to Dundee cake.

Its many accomplishments and attractions have repeatedly brought recognition from UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, with designations for six World Heritage Sites, two Biosphere Reserves, Two Global Geoparks and 3 Creative Sities – Edinburgh for literature, Glasgow for music and Dundee for creativity.
