The time has come

W-day is imminent! As the County Wedding Magazines editorial crew prepare to see our beloved senior editor Melissa become a Mrs, we can’t help but be niggled by at least a small sense of shock at just how quickly the big day has come around. Something, I’ve no doubt you’re all experiencing too as your own weddings draw closer. Christmas Day 2020 feels like only yesterday, when my fellow bridesmaid, Olivia, and I bombarded Melissa with WhatsApp messages: “Has he done it yet? Has he done it yet?” We knew the proposal was imminent you see, and were more than just a tad excited! Boy, have we had an adventure together since: the tears of joy at being asked to be bridesmaids (“Are you sure you want me?”), the fun of shopping for the dresses, and the hilarity of the hen dos (yes plural, she deserves it). The past year-and-a-half has seen us grow closer as friends, not just Melissa, Olivia and I – the three amigos; but also with our gorgeous fellow bridesmaid Nolwenn and the groom, dear Dave. Weddings have a habit of doing that don’t they? Of course, they’re a celebration of love between the all-important couple, but more than that, they allow a much wider expression of love for friends, family and even fur-babies! After all, that’s why we’re all here isn’t it? I know it’s why I spend my days writing about your amazing big days and why I never tire of looking at the resulting photographs. To quote a hero of mine, RuPaul: “Everybody say love.”

I hope you enjoy the oodles of inspiration this issue has to offer. We’ve got two gorgeous styled shoots packed with ideas from the region’s finest wedding suppliers, as well as three incredible real weddings. Plus, there’s plenty of guidance on finishing your look with jewellery and accessories as well as on keeping your guests entertained dawn to dusk. So, dive in!

Enjoy and keeeep planning! Kelly x Kelly Andrews, editor

I can’t resist shoehorning in a woofer pic wherever possible. Meet the gorgeous Pepper, model for our Crowcombe Court shoot this issue. The jewellery and accessories you choose to wear on your wedding day may have special significance, tie together your look and bridal party, or speak to your individual style – even all three.

The ceremony is the most important part of the day, so why shouldn’t it be as much fun as the ensuing celebrations? Turn to Hot Topic where Jen the Celebrant tells us more.
