Sammy and Aaron met in 2015 while working at the same restaurant. They hit it off straight away and became good friends, but when Sammy left the job they fell out of touch. Happily though, two years later they found each other again and started dating.

On holiday in Marrakesh, the pair booked an excursion to visit the waterfalls. Whilst there, Aaron offered to take a photograph of another couple who’d offered to do the same for them. Sammy remembers, “As we were about to have our photo taken, Aaron got down on one knee and popped the question. It was a total surprise and obviously I cried my eyes out and said ‘yes!’”

Sammy and Aaron had their hearts set on a bright and airy summer wedding. They looked at a couple of venues, but as soon as they saw Elmhay Park, they knew it was the one. “We particularly liked that we could marry outside but there was plenty of cover in the Italian gardens, and that we had exclusive use of the venue,” Sammy explains.

Aaron was so keen to be married he said, “I do” too early. My sister got married a few years previous and I was her maid-of-honour, so I’d already been through much of the process before. When she was dress shopping I found the most amazing gown that I knew I wanted to get married in, despite not even being engaged at this stage. Fast forward to my own quest for a dress and sadly the one I’d seen had been discontinued. But I sent a picture of it to Belle of the Ball Bridals and they managed to find me one that was near enough a perfect match. It was the first ever wedding dress I tried on and I instantly knew it was the one. I tried others on, but none of them compared. It was Jennifer Wren style PC8910.

My two bridesmaids wore the same style grey floaty dresses and we had six flowergirls who were all dressed in the same sparkly grey dresses, which worked well together with the bridesmaids’.

Aaron wore a three-piece Ted Baker suit, as did his groomsmen. But the groom’s waistcoast was white and patterned allowing him to stand out.

Our theme was rustic and the colour scheme was lavender, which was reflected in all of the items I made, such as the order-of-the-day and table plan, so that everything linked together and matched.

I really wanted the wedding to have a lot of personal touches and had a very clear vision of what I wanted for the day.

We had a musician, Dan Foxton, who sang and played guitar. He played the whole day from welcoming the guests and the ceremony, right up until the bar closed. Everyone loved him and complemented his versatility and ability to lift the room.

I felt very nervous in the morning as I’d put so much into the day and wanted it to be perfect. After the ceremony though, I was able to relax and had the most wonderful day. I’ll cherish every moment, photos and video for the rest of my life. Aaron was a little bit stressed and nervous, but mainly excited and extremely happy.

The whole day was exactly as we’d hoped it would be, but we’re extremely thankful that we were able to have all of our guests there without any restrictions, especially our fur babies Buddy and Willow. All of our suppliers did an amazing job from the venue team, to our photographer and videographer who were so relaxed, keeping us comfortable while getting some brilliant images and footage.

Due to Covid travel restrictions we had a mini-moon in London straight after the wedding, so that we could get away and enjoy our first week as a married couple. A few months later we managed to get away to Tenerife for some well-earned sun and relaxation.
