You couldn’t get more local to Braintree than the Town Hall itself! Dating back to 1927, Braintree Town Hall provides a memorable setting for weddings. Originally a gift to the town from the Courtauld family, this impressive Georgian building boasts beautiful windows and detailing, all in the heart of the town centre.
Inside, have photos taken on the sweeping staircase, before admiring the crafted stone pillars, yet another ideal backdrop for beautiful pictures. Ceremonies take place in the Lounge Room, for small intimate gatherings of up to 36 guests, and the Council Chamber, a beautiful oak panelled room with hand-painted murals for ceremonies of up to 70. Post-vows, additional rooms are available to hire for post drinks receptions. Psst! This beautiful Georgian house, located around 10 miles from the town centre, offers a stunning backdrop to a marquee or tipi wedding. Picture large lawns, surrounded by paddocks with grazing horses, and you’re on the right track. The Pig & Whistle can accommodate 30 guests with a choice of spaces. Choose either its traditional room with wooden floor and beamed ceilings, or the dining room; decorated with dressers and opulent drapes. You can then host a reception for 30 guests for a wedding breakfast in either area, before inviting an additional 40 for an evening reception with space for celebrating into the night.
